We are sanctified by obedience to the One who purchased us with His own blood.

Hebrews 5:8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, 10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” 11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.

Through His indwelling. Us in Him He in us that the world might believe. For it is He that works in us BOTH to will and do His good pleasure. Christ in us the hope of glory. He is the vine and we are the branches. Without Him we can do nothing. But with Him all things are possible.

A subtle way of suggesting that I stopped too soon? :)

13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

I have always loved that chapter. As to your question no. I just like the part in Exodus where God reminds us it is He that sanctifies. Even under the old covenant.

There is a great deal of persuasion to look to ourselves as to works for salvation... it is the overwhelming influence of this world to do to get... Scripture is clear the world is given over to the influence of satan and we are dead in trespasses and sins... So my question for those who claim the neccesity of works in salvation from what righteous pool do these works come? righteousness begats righteousness...
