For the first time, China has not abstained, but voted "in favor" of the resolution, where the military aggression of Russia is condemned, and Russia itself is called the "aggressor."

The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhii Kyslytsia announced this on Twitter.

The General Assembly by 122 votes in favor and 5 votes against adopted a resolution on cooperation between the UN and the Council of Europe. The attempt of the Russian Federation to remove the mention of aggression against Ukraine failed in the General Assembly. 5 prominent activists against human rights voted against the resolution: Russia, Belarus, Nicaragua, Syria, the DPRK," he wrote.

The document, which was voted on, refers to the "unprecedented challenges" facing Europe "after the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and earlier against Georgia."

The resolution calls on the Russian Federation to "compensate for the damage" caused to the victims of Russian military aggression and "bring to justice all those who are guilty of violating international law."

The picture posted by Kyslytsia shows that China voted in favor of this resolution. In addition, the document was supported by Kazakhstan, India, Brazil and Turkey, which the Kremlin calls "friendly." In total, 122 countries voted in favor.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 30, China announced that it was ready to cooperate with the Russian army to allegedly strengthen strategic communication and coordination.

On February 24, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg commented on China's proposal on ways to end the war in Ukraine.

That is somewhat surprising that China voted for the Russian aggression language!

My dad has this interesting theory that China will eventually turn on Russia.  He says they want their northern neighbor's oil, and will take it by force if necessary.

The Dutch government, along with European partners, is considering providing Ukraine with F-16 fighters, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said during a meeting with Brazilian President Lula da Silva. It was reported by Reuters on Tuesday, May 9.

Rutte said that Ukraine should be helped to fight against Russian aggression, since the issue of supporting Ukraine is "existential" for the Netherlands, Europe and beyond, because the Russian invasion threatened Western values.

"We discussing intensely with Denmark, the UK, some other parties in Europe and also the U.S. on F-16s. But agreement was first needed between all the partners, as they had done in the past before supplying Panzer howitzers and Leopard tanks to Ukraine," the Dutch Prime Minister said.

According to Rutte, the debate on the possibility of sending fighters to Ukraine continues.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 8, the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk explained why the Ukrainian military need F-16 fighters.

In early April, the speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, told how F-16 can quickly help Ukraine achieve victory in the war.

At the end of March, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the supply of Western-made fighters to Ukraine is quite possible in the future.

The German Defense Ministry has officially announced EUR 2.7 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, the largest package since Russia's invasion. It was reported by Tagesspiegel.

The aid package includes 18 wheeled howitzers, artillery ammunition, guided missiles for air defense systems, 4 IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile launchers for air defense, and 12 IRIS-T SLS launchers.

The package also includes 30 Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks and 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, over 100 armoured fighting vehicles and over 200 reconnaissance drones.

"With this valuable contribution in the form of urgently needed war materials, we once again show that Germany takes its support seriously," Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said.

According to him, everyone wants an early end to Russia's terrible and illegal war against the Ukrainian people.

"Unfortunately, this is not expected yet. Therefore, Germany will provide any messenger assistance - as much as necessary," Pistorius added.

The new package will double German arms aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the war in February 2022: since the beginning of the war, the federal government has approved the supply of weapons worth EUR 2.75 million.

Trying to occupy Bakhmut in the Donetsk Region, the Russian Federation lost more than 100,000 of its military. The city itself has been destroyed to the ground.

U.S. President Joe Biden said this at a press conference after the G7 summit in Japan.

"They say about Bakhmut - they lost it or not. The truth is that Russia suffered losses of more than 100,000 people in Bakhmut. It will be hard to replace. It does not matter whether it is occupied or not - there are still not many buildings left. It is a substantially destroyed city. But they managed to shackle a lot of Russian troops, including Wagner Group," he said.

However, Biden believes that F-16 planes would not have helped Ukraine save the city. Similarly, they will not have time to help during the expected counteroffensive.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 20, the leader of the Wagnerites Yevgeny Prigozhin said that his mercenaries allegedly captured Bakhmut. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed this information, but the Armed Forces denied it.

Leading world media wrote that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is at the G7 summit in Japan, said he was not sure the Armed Forces controlled Bakhmut. Later, Zelenskyy’s press secretary Serhii Nykyforov explained that Zelenskyy objected to the loss of Bakhmut. The President was asked that "the Russians say they took Bakhmut," to which Zelenskyy replied "I think not."

The representative of the Eastern group of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevatyi said that if the Russians completely capture the city, then they will not get a strategic advantage. At the same time, in the Russian Federation they react to the alleged capture of the city as if they had "taken Dnipro."

[Britain has been training pilots for at least a year]

The Pentagon is convinced that the transfer of F-16 fighters to Ukraine can last several months, and this is at best. It was stated by U.S. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall, CNN reports.

It would take “several months at best” before Ukraine could exploit the F-16, he said. And it is also necessary to work out a number of details before the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can use Western aircraft in large numbers.

“We are not under any circumstances going to get F-16s or another Western fighter in significant numbers into the hands of the Ukrainian Air Force in something less than at least several months,” Kendall said.

At the same time, the U.S. the Air Force Secretary, in communication with journalists from the Defense Writers Group, drew attention to the fact that this is still a relatively short time, since it usually takes more than 2 years to train a new American pilot to work with such an aircraft. Even a refresher course for an F-16 pilot who hasn't flown in a while can last up to 5 months.

It is worth noting that in public, the United States has argued for months that fighter jets are not at the top of the priority list, will quickly deplete the available funding to help Ukraine instead of more important weapons, such as Abrams tanks and Patriot missiles.

“Kendall described what appeared to be a sudden about-face for the Biden administration as a decision that it was the right time to begin preparing Ukraine’s military for the future,” CNN reports.

“Ukraine is going to remain an independent nation. It’s going to need a full suite of military capabilities for its requirements, and so it’s time to start thinking longer term about what that military might look like and what it will include,” Kendall said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 18, the American publication Yahoo News, citing internal assessment materials from the U.S. Air Force, reported that it would take only four months to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighters.

Britain will begin training Ukrainian pilots in the summer and is working to provide F-16 fighters for Ukraine.

Belgium is ready to train Ukrainian pilots to control F-16, but it is not able to provide Ukraine with the fighters.

Spokesman for the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat said that we are talking about more than 12 aircraft. Aircraft will be transferred probably by units.

Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov noted that Ukrainian pilots are looking forward to starting training on F-16 fighters to support their brothers on the battlefield.

British Foreign Minister James Cleverly said that Ukraine has a legitimate right to defend itself and can "use force beyond its borders." This is written by European Pravda with reference to Sky News.

Thus, answering questions about today's drone attack on Moscow and whether Ukraine has the right to attack the territory of the aggressor country of Russia, Cleverly said that he would not make assumptions about the essence of the attack.

However, he added that Ukraine has a "legal right to defend itself."

"They have the legal right to do this within their borders, but they also have the right to use force beyond their borders to undermine Russia's ability to direct force against Ukraine itself," the British Minister said.

According to Cleverly, "legitimate military targets" outside Ukraine's borders are part of its self-defense.

"We have to admit it," he stressed.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the support of Ukraine from Western countries will continue for years.

Britain will transfer to Ukraine hundreds of attack drones with a range of over 200 km.

On May 11, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace announced that Ukraine would receive a certain number of Storm Shadow missiles.
