When I study Scripture, I love to figure out what seems to be contradictions! To some it would hinder their faith, for myself, it strengthens my faith when I figure it out! In another thread, I mentioned this idea of a "great fake out" ... and I want to spend a bit of time explaining what I'm praying through currently. A seemingly interesting contradiction is the signs of His coming mentioned in Matthew 24. Jesus spends the first 40 verses of so of Matthew 24 giving different SIGNS ... then he says something peculiar at the end ... Mat 24:43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Mat 24:44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. So the Lord gives all these signs ... and then says ... So I want to discuss what I believe could be facilitating a PAUSE in the near future. If you notice the passage in 1 Thessalonians 5 ... 1Th 5:3 While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 1Th 5:4 But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. When they say PEACE and SECURITY ... or some translations say ... PEACE AND SAFETY ... now think about it. How can we have peace and safety in the midst of "wars and rumors of wars, in the midst of famines, in the midst of earthquakes?" I believe it's an illusion of a GREAT PAUSE ... and an illusion of PEACE and SAFETY ... So how could we get a pause or a time of peace and safety in this day and age? It's a specific phrase and it's ONLY RELATED to the LAST DAYS! Notice this phrase in Jeremiah 23. Jer 23:17 They say continually to those who despise the word of the LORD, ‘It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, ‘No disaster shall come upon you.’” Does that sound like PEACE AND SAFETY? Jer 23:18 For who among them has stood in the council of the LORD to see and to hear his word, or who has paid attention to his word and listened? Jer 23:19 Behold, the storm of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, a whirling tempest; it will burst upon the head of the wicked. Jer 23:20 The anger of the LORD will not turn back until he has executed and accomplished the intents of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it clearly. Jer 23:2 Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for my people: “You have scattered my flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for your evil deeds, declares the LORD. [This is a judgment to the religious leaders that was supposed to TAKE CARE of ISRAEL!] Jer 23:3 Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply. This is the RESTORATION of ISRAEL from the DIASPORA ... that is currently taking place even now! Jer 23:4 I will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the LORD. God raising up a body of SHEPHERDS to watch over His flock! Jer 23:5 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. Jer 23:6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The LORD is our righteousness.’ The coming of the Messianic reign ... whereby the Jewish people will TURN to the Lord! Jer 23:7 “Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when they shall no longer say, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ Jer 23:8 but ‘As the LORD lives who brought up and led the offspring of the house of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’ Then they shall dwell in their own land.” This is connected to the restoration from all the countries ... the return of Israel from all nations ... Remember this is a prophecy for the last days ... and it may extend to the body of Messiah as well! But for now, let's focus on the aspect of Israel. Jer 16:14 “Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when it shall no longer be said, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ Jer 16:15 but ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’ For I will bring them back to their own land that I gave to their fathers. The EXACT parallel passage in Jeremiah 16! Jer 16:16 “Behold, I am sending for many fishers, declares the LORD, and they shall catch them. And afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks. The restoration of the Jewish people from all the countries ... first by DRAWING them in hence the term FISHERS ... then secondly by DRIVING them HOME ... hence the term HUNTERS! Jer 16:17 For my eyes are on all their ways. They are not hidden from me, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes. Jer 16:18 But first I will doubly repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable idols, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.” So here we are ... God says HE WILL REPAY ISRAEL double? Why? Because they OUGHT TO KNOW BETTER! First, they MUST BE IN THE LAND to POLLUTE IT! This has ONLY happened in our lifetime! Lev 18:20 And you shall not lie sexually with your neighbor's wife and so make yourself unclean with her. Adultery ... Lev 18:21 You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. Israel pays for up to 2 abortions for any woman in Israel. Israel has one of the highest per capita abortions rates in the world! Lev 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. Tel Aviv wants to be known as the Gay Capitol of Europe! Lev 18:23 And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it: it is perversion. Once we get to Beastiality ... that's the last stage of perversion! Lev 18:24 “Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, Lev 18:25 and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. Jer 16:20 Can man make for himself gods? Such are not gods!” Jer 16:21 “Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the LORD.” If you take careful NOTICE the judgment to Israel is SO SEVERE ... that people will say ... the restoration of Israel prophetically is a LIE ... they will look at the judgment and suggest God is GONE from the land! It's when Israel looks like it in the GRAVE ... that God shows up! So while those who are extreme Zionists and suggest that God would never touch His people Israel ... speaking words of peace and safety to them ... it's an illusion because God is not hiding his FACE from their iniquity!
