So... how do you think you were saved? What do you think will happen after death?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

How? I accepted christ etc. Death? What happened before I was born? I don't know. What happens after I die? I don't know.

You claim to have been a Christian, yet you claimed He was a :loner" and did not know that He called the disciples His friends and brothers?

No.  He never addressed groups of people as His friends, he addressed specific persons as being His friends.  And those that he called brothers were the very same ones He called friends.  As for His friendship being conditional, the verse you quoted literally means, "If you do what I command you, then you are my friends."  It follows two verses in which Jesus defines the love of a true friend.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Luke 12:4 (addressing the multitude) ....and I say to you. My friends, do not be afraid....

I think it's quite clear he expects obedience when he talks about friendship.

Not so: "Meanwhile, when the myriads of the crowd were gathered together so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocracy" (verse 1)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I stand corrected. You are absolutely right.

Thanks for making me look it up, though. :emot-eek:

That's more or less a distraction, though. It's not important who is right or wrong here. The most important thing is Jesus.

So who is Jesus really to you, MB?

Nothing anymore. I was a christian for 8 years. The more I read, the more I became convinced that it was just a collection of stories and nothing more. One day about 2 months ago, I stopped pretending. An enormous peace came over me. The peace I had wanted and searched for so badly as a christian. I couldn't turn back after that.....

All that happened is the devil has no reason to bother you now. You've rejoined his ranks. Your "Peace" is a false one brought on by the fact you are no longer being tempted or attacked in your mind because you are no longer a threat to satan's kingdom.

Of course I don't believe this anymore. I never did. So my peace has been indirectly brought on by satan? Well that doesn't say very much for god then does it?

When you were trying to live for God, satan was buffeting you with lying thoughts of worthlessness and failure and doubt. Now that you have given up, he has stopped bothering you, because he knows he has you unless you turn back to the Lord, and he isn't about to give you a reason to seek God now.

So why did god forsake me then? During my last weeks as a christian I prayed earnestly to him for strength, saying that I was losing my faith. I prayed and cried out for help, but none came. I didn't need any wishy washy excuses after that because I realized there was nothing to excuse anymore. The peace came after years of forcing myself to believe. The peace came because deep inside, I knew I was living a lie. If I had the HS inside me then he must have been napping a lot, because he was awfully quiet.

When you want physical strength, how do you get it? By exercising your muscles. So you get the emotional strength through trials. Yet you chose to turn away from the Lord instead of relying on His strength to see you through.

Bad choice.

More than anything, faith is simply refusing to quit.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I no longer believe those stories in the bible. I thank you for taking the time to share these things, but I can no longer return to that mental prison.
