Thanks in advance.

1 John 5:16-17

English Standard Version

16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God[a] will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death.

I could never make out this one for sure. It's a sin you see a brother committing. Could be the sin of renouncing Christ ?

Sins that leads to death are identified by the Law as requiring that judgment. Here is where it gets interesting.

Adultery is a sin that leads to death, but here is Paul's reaction to this sin of fornication.

1 Corinthians 5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality

as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife!

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit,

with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Notice he doesn't say "pray for the poor victim of sin".

He says "hand him over to Satan!" for his salvation to come.

And yet there is no death penalty in the church. Not condemnation, but salvation.
