Paul describes an actual church service in which there is a psalm, doctrine, tongue, revelation and an interpretation. It then states that it is to let all things be done unto edifying.

At the time there was no NT, it was all based on the OT and the gospels.

A psalm as a devotional, a doctrine to explain OT truths for the church to follow, tongues as a sign to unbelievers, revelations on past, present and future, and interpretations on tongues, dreams and visions.

As a former Pentecostal, I saw lots of tongues, but very little of what Paul describes.

I wonder if you might have something to add to the topic.

Everything that come from God is also offered in counterfeit by Satan.

Test the spirits, do it directly not in some abstract principle only.

FWIW, as far as I'm concerned in my own life, a revelation that isn't or can't be acted on in the real world around me is of no value.  A revelation has to be dynamic in my life, something I can put to use,  for it to mean anything to me.
