So this is their job, to plan for such an eventuality. But the US is very aware that right now their space based assets are huge vulnerable targets. One of the latest satellites has (allegedly) an antennae that unfurls to a span of over 100 meters. So what is the counter? They are already working on this issue, going to instead have swarms of satellites, so that it is almost impossible to degrade any systems. SpaceX (Starlink) already have 5,500 Starlinks in orbit, 12,000 satellites are planned to be deployed, with a possible later extension to 42,000. Blue Origins (Amazon) intend to place their own communications system in orbit, with other nations following.
