The problem is that today we tend to judge all Jews according to the blindness and stubborness of the Pharisees, as if the Pharisees were charactistic of Jews en masse, and that would simply be a faulty approach to the issue at hand.

Very, very true. In fact, we so often forget that not even all of the Pharisees were hypocrites. Look at Nichodemus. Look at Joseph of Arimathea, etc etc etc. Paul was a Pharisee. Many of the Believers who participated at the Council of Jersualem were Pharisees. Pharisees were not inherently bad people -- they went out of their way to HELP the community to understand and follow Torah. They were what today would be called the pillars of the church -- the folks at our churches that put in extra time to help teach, to serve on committees, to attend Bible studies. These are the good guys. And yeah, some of them, even today, are self-righteous hypocritical legalistic snakes. But not all. So unless believers are willing to brand all Believers in Yeshua, Christian or Messianic, as self righteous-hypocritical legalistic snakes, its not right to judge all Jews that way either.

It may be really helpful to learn about the historical background of the gospels. There were actually two competing schools of Pharisees: bet Hillel, and bet Shammai. While bet Hillel (whose teachings Jesus agreed with) had ruled the Sanhedron while Jesus grew up, bet Shammai (which was very legalistic) gained control over the Sanhedron just prior to Jesus' ministry. Much of the interplay between Jesus and the Pharisees CAN be seen as political interplay as Yeshua representing the teachings of bet Hillel (which had lost power) against bet Shammai (which had the power). It should also be noted that Rabbinical Judaism is founded upon bet Hillel.

"Whatever is hateful to you, do not do to others. This is the whole Torah. All the rest is commentary. Now go study the commentary." Hillel

No one goes to the father except through Yeshua:

Question: If no one goes to the Father except through Yeshua how did Moses and everyone in the First Testament to the Jews, enter the kingdom or G_D, since they died before Yeshua was born?

In John: 4:22 Yeshua says He is a Jew, only Jews know how to Worship and salvation comes from the Jews. Matt: 23:3 Yeshua tells Jews to "Observe and Do" (continue to follow the laws of Moses.

Question: why do gentile converts reject what Yeshua said and admit they are converted Jews who follow Yeshua?

Do you believe Yeshua lied or mis spoke or tricked others into believing something that was not completely true about the importance of remaining Jewish?

John 14:6 "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes to the father but by me." Those are the words of Jesus. The Bible also says:

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

(Acts 4:12)

In the First Testament, they were saved by grace through faith, just like today. The difference is that they were saved by grace through faith in the Messiah to come. We are saved by grace through faith in the Messiah who has come.

Believing in the Messiah is the most Jewish thing you can do. Believing in the Jewish Messiah does not cause a Jewish person to cease being Jewish.

Amen. Brother in Christ.

Shabbat shalom, my friends.

Have you considered that the words "sooteer" in Greek and "yashua`" in Hebrew both mean "deliverance" and "rescue" as much as they mean "salvation?" The verses that have been quoted thus far are reminiscent of the Prophecies in the Tanakh (the OT). They are speaking of Yeshua`s RESCUE of the Jews when He returns to that end. Be careful NOT to read INTO the Scriptures your own theologies and philosophies! What you, my friends, are discussing is better understood and called "God's justification of sinners" rather than "salvation."

Why didn't the Jews believe Jesus was the Christ?

First read Isaiah 53:1-12. It is a prophesy telling of the coming of Jesus. It tells of how they would not receive him, how he would be despised and rejected by men.

Also John 1:11

He came unto his own and his own received him not.

John 12:37-43

But he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

That the saying of Esaias the prophet (from Isaiah 53) might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

HE HATH BLINDED THEIR EYES, AND HARDENED THEIR HEART; THAT THEY SHOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, NOR UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED, AND I SHOULD HEAL THEM

These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

For they loved the praise of men more that the praise of God.

~These words had to be fullfilled that Christ would be crucified. The Jews were blinded that they could not receive Jesus as the Christ. Then the word would go unto the Gentiles that he may become our Saviour. In Rev. 11:3-13 At the time the two witnesses go to Israel they will testify of the True Word of Christ to the Jews, the 144,000, at this time, they will receive Jesus as the Christ.

Blessings,

LisabethforChrist

Actually these two verses are NOT about non-believing Jews, but about believers who got scared, LIKE PETER.

I'm reading a lot of posts that talk about faith as if it has nothing to do with works. Remember that James says faith without works is dead. There is no difference between faith and faithfulness. In fact, in Hebrew there is not even two words, but only one: EMUNAH. This is why Rav Shaul can look at Avraham and say he was saved by faith, and why Ya'akov (james) can look at Avraham and say he was saved by his works. SAME THING: EMUNAH. We are saved, have ALWAYS been saved, by the grace of HaShem, through EMUNAH.

Shalom,

Jesus was and is in fact G-d the Son and if anyone desires to be saved, they must believe on Him as the Messiah.

Romans 10:

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

11For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."

12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
