Creatures are just too complex to have been evolved, look at the animals in Africa, Giraffe, Lion, Hippo, Rhino..... I dont see how something that complex could have it's origins in bacteria, even if we are talking trillions of years, something can't change that much.

Evolution has more basis in what can be observed than Creationism (as you call it "intelligent design") Or at least parts of it. And while we may not have 'missing links' one can not observe an animal vegitable or mineral magically appearing out of thin air, ever. However we can observe the life-cycle of a tad-pol. "Intelligent Design" is mythology, and there's mythology electives already in existance, so let's just toss it in there.

Hey Wiwiw -

Before I can dialogue with you about this, I need to understand your position on the Bible.

Firstly, what do you believe about Jesus?

Secondly, what is your take on Genesis 1?

My take is that science and religion are mutually exclusive. Fine, teach them both...just keep them in the right catergories. If you want to yabble about the subject ad naseum you can e-mail me *mod willing I post my e-mail?* via august_friendly@yahoo.com to avoid forum clutter about something that's old and tired anyway. *I can't open winword because of disk-space errors so forgive any spelling/grammer errors in advance*

Why?

In the simpliest of terms, using the most convenient definitions:

fairies don't paint the autumn leaves

elves don't open the rainclouds

the stars are not lit by pixies, and are not the size of marbles

ghosts have better things to do than hang out in old houses and occasionaly move light-weight objects around

We are not reincarnated alien souls trapped in decaying mortal bodies.

No seven headed hydras rising from the pits of Hades or Ghenna with harlots riding on their backs.

No Witches nor Warlocks, Wizards nor Psychics, Telepaths or goblins...

etc...

Science is based on what can be measured, recreated, perceived with tangible senses, and adapts when new information is revealed rather than altering new information to fit a pre-concieved notions. Based on reason, mathmatical soundness, logic, and most of all: unbridled sanity.

Religion is created when there's lack of evidence, the pre-existing evidence isn't evidence at all but personal experience and opinion, and when the human mind fails to cope with the reality that the only reason the species exists is to consume, breed, and then die, or the idea that no one person is any more special or incredible than the other 7 or so billion. Gotta log ego. Leggo my ego.

I'm assuming you're not a Christian, correct?

Anyway,

Science is based on what can be measured, recreated, perceived with tangible senses, and adapts when new information is revealed rather than altering new information to fit a pre-concieved notions. Based on reason, mathmatical soundness, logic, and most of all: unbridled sanity.

Maybe in the ideal, but not in practise. Most scientists approach with a naturalistic philosophy. THe problem is, true science has a hypothesis, meaning they approach certain areas of the field with preconcieved ideas as to what their findings will deal out. Add to the fact that if they're wrong, if their findings are not complete, or completely disprove their philosophy, it means they have to abandon the naturalistic views of their world....otherwise known as a complete deconstruction of their basic worldview. Something most humans cannot come to grips with.

Religion is created when there's lack of evidence, the pre-existing evidence isn't evidence at all but personal experience and opinion,

Actually, science backs up a religious point of view. THe complexity of the universe and beings within it, as well as the way the universe has been formed (over time and under very specific conditions) isn't an argument from absense; it's an argument from verifiable proof.

nd when the human mind fails to cope with the reality that the only reason the species exists is to consume, breed, and then die, or the idea that no one person is any more special or incredible than the other 7 or so billion.

Under this view I can kill whomever I want, rape whomever I want, and do anything else so long as it is beneficial to me (allows me to consume, breed, and die). Under your view I should be allowed to do whatever I want. Do you object to murder, rape, slave labour, or anything like this?

I'd like to add that we share 50% of our genes with bananas. It's true!

So it's scientifically accurate for me to say that all evolutionists are half bananas. ;-)

I learn something new all the time!

:rolleyes::);)

Good One!

Same reason. Not looking to debate it, it would just be pretty cool to be able to validate it.
