It is useless to talk of one antichrist that will take over because it never says this in the Bible. John states that there were many antichrists even in his day. An antichrist is someone who is "opposed to Christ" or "against the Truth."

Past teachers who wanted a name for themselves predicted many things that are not specifically in the Bible. These theories are repeated and repeated because they have been written down and incorporated into official church writings.

Another example: the Bible doesn't say "rapture." It speaks of a time when some people would be taken and others left behind. This is possible in peoples minds. There doesn't have to be a physical seperation of these people to make this a true statement. Christ said that he brings seperation even when he was here - even driving a sword between previously close family members.

I hope I have made a good point about checking if these theories are really in there. Most of the time there are other feasible explanations.

Greetings Bill ,

Good points ,

Oftentimes things are presented as "the Word of God says " when it is not a direct quote of the text of Scripture , but a

presenting of a teaching or an interpretation . If it is found to be error than it seems they will also be guilty of misrepresenting God .

As to the term "Antichrist " , I believe a more accurate biblical term for what most people mean would be "the Lawless one " or "the Beast "

As to the term " Rapture " , perhaps the term "the Gathering " would be more in line with Scripture .

For the kingdom ,

Tom

I was wondering if anyone remembers being told not to go near anyone saying the end of the world is coming on such and such a time.

Doesnt it say no one knows the hour?

There are some preachers about who thnk that 2007 is a bible number and therefore things point to the end coming then.

Is God that predictable?

Greetings ,

You raise a good point . Consider this scenario :

Someday there will be believers ( Scripture gives evidence of such ) who will understand the revealing of the identity of the Antichrist , false prophet and the Mark etc. They will try " to make many understand" (Dan.11 ) , but

their proclaimation will be HINDERED by the hundreds of other false and misleading identities and the cynicism of "yea we've been hearing this stuff for many years ".

Would not much of the problem have been created by careless Christians ?

What do you think ?

Tom

The interesting part to me is, Scripture dictates that only a radiment (bread crums) will know the truth at end times. Yet the christian community is over a billion people that's a lot more than bread crums. I haven't met a christian yet who didn't say they were not saved.

Can someone who is saved beyond doubt explain this.

Hello dood0808

From Romans, chapter 10:

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Salvation is ultra simple: If you believe in your heart (meaning, that you "know without doubt" that Jesus Christ is God, the son of the Father, and that the Spirit of Christ is the Holy Spirit, and that he took upon himself the flesh of a man and laid down his life voluntarily to pay off our sin debt.) that Jesus Christ is Lord and have agreed truthfully before witnesses that you believe on His name, you are saved. It's not so complicated.

And from romans, chapter 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

If you are saved, the Spirit of God gives you a certain knowledge of it.

From the same chapter, vs 14:For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

The Holy Spirit urges us, communes with us, leads us. We who are his can feel His presence and His urging. If we commune with God and do not ignore that "still small voice within" we are able to follow after the Spirit in obedience to the Father.

The book of revelation, chapter 1:3 states; Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

This is a blessing for those who take to heart the things written in the prophecies of revelation, most of which are end time prophecies.

When the time comes, we will know who is who in the world, and when the Antichrist is revealed, he will be revealed by the Holy Spirit to the children of God. We who are on earth at the time will know what is what.
