It has nothing to do with being indoctrinated and everything to do with the plain reading of the text.

Actually, the plain is not that plain, otherwise, there wouldn't be so much controversy. Sometimes, the translations have caused more problems. Let me illustrate:

After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him. "

The phrase "the end" is actually incorrect. The correct translation should be "his end" (qitzu). Also, "like a flood" in the text is literally "in a/the flood" (b'shetef or bashetef). The Massoretic reading (bashetef) is "in the flood". The basis for using "like" in that phrase is rather flimsy, unfortunately. A careful translation of that phrase should be "his end will come in a/the flood".

The question is, who fits the description of "this end", which is in a/the "flood", the "prince to come" or "the Messiah" (BTW, the Hebrew text does not have the definite article, "the")?

daniel 9;27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:and in the midst of the wekk he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to to cease and FOR THE OVERSPREAD OF ABOMINATION HE SHALL MAKE IT DESOLATE,even until the consummation, and that determined shall be pored upon the desolate.

Now look closely it never say HE(Jesus) causes an abomination but because of the abomination HE(Jesus)shall make it desolate. So as you can see because of the overspreading of abomination ''caused'' by the anti christ ''HE''(Jesus) shall make it desolate. So once again it is your erra that is obvious, not your ability to discern of scripture. He(Jesus) confirms the covenant of messiah promised to Israel by God.HE(Jesus)causes the sacrifice to cease by becoming the final and only true sacrifice. And HE(Jesus) makes it (the earth)desolate because of the overspreading of abomination.HE(Jesus) does not cause the abomination nor do the scripture indicate that he does.(edited by moderator)

Literally, the Hebrew word "al" means on, upon, above. "FOR" in the translation above is not quite there. The Hebrew text also does not have "He shall make it desolate". Instead, it simply says. "shall make desolate", neither the subject nor object is mentioned. There is no "it" in that phrase, so making it mean "earth" is improper. All it says in the text, as I read it, is "and on a wing of abomination shall make desolate".

Actually, I've never heard anyone argue against the doctrine that the antichrist orchestrates the 7 year covenant with Israel until this forum, Christ Himself even references it!

Matthew 24:15

So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel
