Thx; -c- In a nutshell, it's the coming apostasy, the falling away from the truth that was handed down to true believers from Christ and His hand picked apostles. Beware of the "new breed" of apostiles and prophets, these are wolves in sheeps clothing.

However lots and lots of nonsense has been done in the name of ecumenism.

Ecumenism is the coming together of various 'Christian' denominations, based on unity in Christ, for dialogue and evangelism. This concept is flawed from the outset as Roman Catholicism denies many of the biblical teachings regarding salvation etc, liberals such as Bishop John Spong (Episcopalian) deny the virgin birth, miracles etc. Therefore any unity with those preaching 'another gospel' is wrong. The Anglican bishop J.C. Ryle said, "there can be no unity without truth". Yet it is this unity without truth that is promoted as being biblical today. Another gospel lies at the heart of the modern ecumenical movement." 2 Corinthians 6:14,15 says: "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?" (NKJV). Does anybody else see the beginnings of a movement to a "One World Religion"? Just a thought. Edited September 12, 2006 by Akabu
Guest
The Roman Catholic Church was founded on Ecumenical Councils. Beginning in 1920s the Protestants were led away from their religion by Ecumenical Councils. In 1948, the World Council of Chirhces was founded, adding ex-protestants to the Seven Old Catholic Churc hes, by the Ecumenical Council at Amsterdam, Holland. See: Encyclopedia; "Councils" and "Ecumenical Movement." sidwms
