AndrewA Posted October 10, 2006 Group: Advanced Member Followers: 3 Topic Count: 82 Topics Per Day: 0.01 Content Count: 469 Content Per Day: 0.07 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 07/31/2006 Status: Offline Birthday: 09/21/1967 Share Posted October 10, 2006 andrew, if you are being attacked, and it is your life or theirs, and you defend yourself, this is not murder.... the Bible even tells us the differance, the 10 commandments is more accurate as being said thou shalt not murder...... there are other area's that speak about putting people to death..... there are differant discriptions of killing, and murder is only one... here are a couple of them.... accidental: (two men fighting, one strikes a woman with child, child dies, man that stuck her, is guilty........) punishment: a man laying with another man, as he would a woman, they both shall be put to death murder: killing one man for envy, strife, greed, hatred, anger.... Those examples you give are indeed part of the sets of laws given to the Israelites. However they do not allow people to take the law into their own hands, accidental death , ie manslaughter is just that an accident. irishcowboy Posted October 11, 2006 Group: Royal Member Followers: 1 Topic Count: 127 Topics Per Day: 0.03 Content Count: 3,248 Content Per Day: 0.88 Reputation: 13 Days Won: 0 Joined: 03/23/2014 Status: Offline Share Posted October 11, 2006 trusting in God is wonderful.... there is this man, living in a house in St. Louis..... during a series of heavy storms, the streets are begining to flood, he is praying that God will take care of him through this.... a police officer comes to the door, and advises the man to evacuate... he refuses, for God will take care of him. a fireman later wades to the door and advises him that he needs to vacate the house... he again refuses, for God will take care of him. as the waters rise, he climbs to the second floor, and a boat comes by the house, seeing him sitting at the window, it pullls up and it is a water rescue team, trying to convince him to climb aboard to safety... he refuses, God will take care of him. the waters continue to rise, and he cuts a hole in the roof from the attic to sit there. A Coast Guard Helo comes along and drops a ladder down, with the PA system, becken him to climb the ladder to safety... he refuses for his God will save him.... the water finally overtakes him..... when he meets up with God he asks him, you know that i have believed in you for ages, and that i trusted in you for all things, but why did you not help me through that flood????? God replyed, saying; I sent a policeman, a fireman, water rescue team, as well as a helicopter to you, and you rejected everything I sent........ Chist did not call us to be wimps...... and God gave us all a brain to use.... if i die today, i will not be here tomorrow to witness Christ to anyone else.... yes, when it is my time to go, i will go.... as my wife told me this weekend, she is a bit envious of her mother, for she wanted to go home also, but she also knows that her mothers work on this earth is done, and that she still has work to do.... if I can live, i will live, but i will not just stand there and let some idiot pull the trigger just cause he has a wild hair up his nose...... Monday, not more then 20 miles from here, a boy walks into his school with an AK-47..... you might have even heard of it...... the principle escorted him out.... yes with chance of him being shot is true, but never the less, he did at that time what he thought was the right way..... another man had already approached him... I honestly believe, that if it is my time, no matter what i do or do not do will have no baring on it, but..... if it means that i die that some one else may die in the process, who does not know Christ, then i will try and stop the person doing the killing..... so the other person will have a chance to know Christ.... my life is expendible on this earth, this is not my home.... if God empowers the person to kill me, so be it... if not so be it, i will not change my thinking or my dedication to the Lord.... if i can knock the gun from the persons hand, then i will try, if i think i can i will try....will i turn and kill him in the process??? dont know, depends on how much of a struggle and what the cost will be.... this is where the Lord will help me.... for the Lord knows what is needed at any given time..... and common sense has a lot to do with what tthe Lord gave us......
