So famous that George "Dubya" Bush is congratulating them for their great ministry: "By encouraging the celebration of faith and sharing of God's love and boundless mercy, churches like yours put hope in people's hearts and a sense of purpose in their lives" and there's more!!!: "This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on your years of service and to rejoice in God's faithfulness to your congregation." It's interesting how he says "churches like yours" cuz I guess he's referring to "gay churches" that instead of giving the faithful advise and help, they reaffirm their sin. I hope this will be an opportunity for the "christian right" to reconcile with the leading gay activist in the nation

Not to mention a way to verify the context of your quotes. You can say just about anything. Site your sources.

Godman: I wouldn't give it that much credibility. Sounds like nonsense. Do we have a "nonsense" forum? Oh, BTW, Mobile.....Bush is pro-life. Perhaps you'd prefer Al Gore. He was very pro-choice. He probably thinks like I did up until recently ...that "Metropolitan" Churches were churches in the city. Ya'll....some of us aren't up on all this. I don't go to the "Metro" myself so I'd just assume it's a nice church downtown somewhere. Surely, you don't think he's saying "gay churches" are where it's at?! That's political suicide, for one thing. It's probably a classic blunder like the Dan Quail debacles.

I have also seen pictures of him bowing to budda when he visited Japan a while back. As our President he needs our prayers, he is Gods annointed for this country
Guest LadyC
it certainly sends a mixed message, if bush was aware that MCC was very pro-gay. but the more important message is his public support of preservation of marriage as being between a man and a woman. bush is not perfect. we all know that. but who would you rather have in office? the likes of clinton??? while bush seems to waffle and play nice politics here and there, when push comes to shove, he makes no bones about his view one gay marriage, on abortion, and other key points. other politicians do a heck of a lot more waffling, but when push comes to shove, they support the very things that the Bible stands against. (i'm generalizing here, obviously not every politician supports immorality!) somebody in another thread said recently that Christians should not be politically involved. i totally disagree. i feel we have the moral responsibility to be aware of the political issues, know where various politicians stand, and vote for those that (regardless of their waffling) have a history of doing the right thing. there is a website designed for the politically unaware called www.selectsmart.com. it doesn't tell you up front what anyone stands for, it asks you a series of questions about issues, explaining them where necessary, and you make the choices of what issues you oppose or support, and how strongly them influence your voting decision. after all questions are answered, it generates a report that shows you how your beliefs measure up with each candidate running for office. if you're feeling very anti-bush, or for that matter, anti-anyone else, perhaps you should run through that survey so you see who you agree or disagree with the most. i use it every election, in spite of the fact that i keep up with politics... it prevents me from casting a vote based on personal opinion. Of course it would be more helpful if these polititions would stand up for what they say they believe and keep their promises, we would be in good shape
