Senator McConnell is quite correct in responding to Senator Reid as he did, by threatening to withhold legislation unless up or down votes are held. Why would Democrats worry about the fairness of up or down votes, pro-choice in beautiful action, yes? If they want to play hardball, then they should expect no less from their opponents. Actually, they were asking for moderate candidates when they were the minority party too. Bush has so far enjoyed a much higher approval rate of his nominees than Clinton did with his. So far, only the total nutjobs have been blocked. That doesn't sound like fair play to me. The way I see it, the dems want the apply the basic rules and standards for themselves and have stricter rules for their opponents. The dems can't win on a level playing field, so what do they do? They put their opponents at a disadvantage, then when the ball is in their hands and they have the lead, they ask for fair play in the name of compromise. Sounds like playground behavior to me. It's like a game of 2-handed tag, except the democrats are the little slow ones with short arms, so they cry to the teachers that it isn't fair, so to make it fair, the teachers say the disadvantaged ones only have to use 1 hand for a tag instead of two. This philosophy if fair play and equality is communist at it's very foundation. You know what you're supposed to do if you can't beat your opponent? You don't bend the rules and put your opponent at a disadvantage, you work hard, you practice, you build up your strength, agility, speed, etc. then you rematch your opponent in the same arena and if you still can't beat him, then you work harder, practice more, build up more strength, agility, speed, etc. You keep trying and working harder until you can beat him and if you still can't then you can say you did your best, but this person was the better man. Getting a victory handed to you takes away from its value, you don't appreciate it, you don't deserve it and it becomes a meaningless moment that no one benefitted from. That's how I feel about the dems. They can't win fairly so they expect the rules to be bent in their favor, but inflexible for their opponents.
