If we need correction He will give it to us lovingly. We're expected to obey, but not killed for not doing so.

I think God expects obedence... but in the same way a father expects his son and daughter to obey. We have freedom of sins by Jesus Christ.... however if God doesn't dicipline us as his sons and daughters than we will be self-centered all our days. Infact... God's dicipline furthers the proof that we are his sons and daughters. A father has certain rights to his children... if a complete stranger rebuked a young boy than you would prolly have a sence of "why doesn't that man just leave that poor kid alone!?". however... if a father diciplines his son you say "he's being a good dad"

Personally, I don't believe this. I believe God does expect obedience, as it shows what is in your heart. My daughter believes you don't have to "do", or not be able to do anything, because Jesus did it all, and if you do, it's legalism.

I'll answer that with the words to a song by Keith Green: If you love the Lord You will love His will for you Instead of questions, "Why?" There'll be praise for all He brings you through And if you love the Lord You will love His holy commands Delight yourself in them And everything you do will surely stand We are His workmanship Created for good works in Christ He calls us to offer up ourselves A living sacrifice If you love the Lord His discipline you won't despise 'Cause it will prove to you That you're a child in His eyes And if you love the Lord You'll seek His face with all of your hear And even when you're old From His holy ways you won't depart We are His workmanship Created for good works in Christ He calls us to offer up ourselves A living sacrifice Hope that helps! For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. These are just two of the many scriptures that refute the saved by grace and faith only doctrine. Our salvation through faith and grace is only the beginning of our journey with Christ. Deuteronomy 28:1 "if you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth." Another scripture reference to reinforce Cardcaptor's comments. Scripture is very clear on the rewards and punishment for obedience.
