/bump so Leonard might see this. There are TONS of Marx-Engles communications, and I've only just skimmed the surface, but still can't find anything that references what Leonard has said.

Do you know which letters I should look for specifically?

But the VA system is held out as a bad system, and it is, and it should be totally overhauled, and YET it is better than the health care that millions of uninsured working Americans get at ER's and overwhelmed clinics everyday.

We already have the government deeply involved in health care; we just do it very badly. Every time an uninsured person goes the ER and gets free services they are using our public health care system, they just don't get very good overall care.

Now AK sure I didn't have health insurance off and on when I was in my 20's and it was no big deal, I was willing to take that risk. But when you are older and have a family and have children, you have a responsibility for providing for them, and one of those very basic things you provide is health care. I do thank God that I have health insurance through my work. If I tried to buy it on the open market it would run me around $900 per month just for our family of four. Sure I may be able to swing that with great difficulty, but how could anyone who makes 7 or 8 bucks an hour supposed to do that? Remember someone making 8 bucks on hour makes too much to get Medicaid, so they are just basically stuck, just like we stick most working people in this country. Something is broken in our system and the fact is the government is going to have to fix it. The industry itself is not going to fix this and I don't think it is able to fix it. I think we have a moral obligation to fix it.

Gene V: It works EXACTLY AS MARX TRULY INTENDED. Please read the UNABRIDGED, UNEDITED personal correspondence which passed for decades between Marx and Engles. You will find that Marx says over and over again that he utterly hates mankind, and is deliberately designing a system which bring 'permanent fire and blood' upon mankind.

It is a system designed in league with the devil to cause death and misery wherever it can. LEARN.

Those are interesting verses, but I hardly think that a few depressing poems would signify that someone is "pure evil". I have written sad poems in the past, but not all of it was what I specifically felt about things, they were just forms of expression. The Communist Manifesto is an example of Marx's true works, and he lays out the plans for an ideal form of government in his eyes, not something that would create destruction. He says in his works he didn't think that people would be ready for a true communist government (correctly) for quite some time, but when it would happen it would sweep across the entire world. He was not expecting change in his name to come so fast, and they didn't grasp all of what he was teaching, which is one of the reasons "communist" countries of the past were such failures.

I don't understand why communism has become nearly a swear-word in North America.

So why do people act like Communism is intrinsically evil?

Think democide (genocide and mass murder) on a scale unheard of before communism as a form of government became a reality (Russia, 1917). How many killed - about 110,000,000 give or take a few million. Pol Pot and Company (Cambodia) killed about 2,000,000 of their own between 1975 and 1978 - out of a population of 7,000,000.

Sorry I disagree that the regimes in the countries you mention or any that currently espouse communism actually practice/d the system as originally intended, they should be termed as Lenist/ Maoist or Trotskyist, even Marx missed the point. In an imperfect world inhabited by imperfect people this utopian form of classless society can never work. Perhaps the Essenes in the 1st & 2nd Century were closest to true communism although their approach was not exactly ideal either.:rolleyes:

Leonard,

with all due respect I did NOT say anything about Marx I will repeat for your edification "system as originally intended". I would suggest that you read posts carefefully in future and look beyond Marxs' philosophy to which you appear to be fixated. Perhaps you should bone up a little on history (LEARN) and you might find that whilst the catchword 'communism' might be relatively new, the idea has been around long before Mr KM probably since the Master and His disciples.

I will repeat your word to you "LEARN"

Well the Russians werent exactly America's best friend. I guess the disdane for the reds has been carried over even in this time of peace (with the reds).

I have always thought of communism like this, "its a great idea in theory but so is a monarchy". Once you put these things into practice they go horribly wrong.

Just my 2 cents

Sean

Oh hamburgers! how could i have missed this thread!

SOCIALISM IS THE WAY FOR YOU! Its democratic its religous tolerant and fair.

Capitalism is good for the rich, socialism increases tax, that means that the poor will lose one night out a month, but will gain free health care, free education including college, free dental care and securety.

But the rich will lose millions and wont be able to buy 10 houses but will have to get 8 instead.

America has a bad system, the entire societty is about elitism. In Sweden and other socialist nations, the school that have bad numbers get more money to raise them. In America you only get more money to the school if the numbers are high.

This allows the elite to have the best education and the poor stay poor.

Socialism is the best political system!
