  1. Some barely speak modern English, for that matter... Thou dost forsooth speaketh the truth - the prose in earlier posts are quite beautiful doncha think
  2. No point in leaders of states not going if the athletes do - perhaps a total world wide boycott might do the trick and once again I say it won't happen
  3. Suzanne thank you for this post. The OP has a link specifically dealing with the "lie" of Rahab which further points out that our Lord and Master was a direct descendant of Rahab. Yes lying is wrong but would I do anything different to Rahab, I would hope not. Just to continue along the vein of lying how many of us can say we do not deceive ourselves and others in small ways everyday. I believe we do because we are not perfected yet and we simply justify or gloss over the act to make it sound good. How many of us can say we do no wrong? Gene
  4. Odd Thomas was Koontz. Getting back to the OP I enjoy the odd horror movie, I find that it keeps me focused on my next chess move
  5. Abolish elections and make myself the prez for life............
  6. How well you put it hr.jr
  7. Scuse me young lady....'course midlife crisis exists. I should know it's been happening to me for 60 odd years *HAR*
  8. Why does this remind me of the Samaritan woman by the well? Emily
  9. Ah excuse me sweets you are as young as you feel - look at me, I don't feel a day over 60. Btw I always tend to forget my birthday (and everyone elses) until someone has to remind me so it seems everyone except me is celebrating my birthday. On a more serious note there are two scriptural references to birthdays but not in the context of celebration, I would agree with the consensus that there is no biblical reference to not celebrating one's birthday. In the event that the PM talks about "pagan" in the sense that people have been celebrating their birthday's long before the birth of the Master then he is right and if we use the 25th of December as the day of His birth (which is probably erroneous) then what does it matter - it is a great matter for celebration. Sorry, wandering off the subject matter again................
  10. Just read the article - Pullman comes across as an embittered man fueled by irrational hatred, he seriously needs the Master in his life. We, as Christians should pray for him, somehow I think he's ready...
  11. Yep! Right on Vickilynn well said
  12. Tried to open the trailer but my computer (1917 vintage) wouldn't - somebody tell me if an old codger would enjoy part 2 even if I haven't seen part one
  13. Yesterday someone sent me a message on my mobile telling me that it's about 2 kid's who manage to kill G-D in order to do whatever they like. The message also advised that we send letters of protest to the movie distributors and boycott the cinemas - as if I would pay good money to see something so infantile Still if that is indeed the plot it makes you wonder what the purpose (or should I say agenda) is! The Da Vinci code was far more insidiously dangerous in my view.
  14. Picking up on the flood "story" or myth as our eminent "scientist" put's it, there is incontrovertable historical and archaeological proof that a flood did occur in ancient times, although there is disagreement as to the actual time frame. Other than that I really wouldn't consider entering into a discussion with a former science instructor who should know better than to resort to vitriol.
  15. Does the bakery really need these particular customers? I'm nearly certain Christians would flock to the bakery, but then again the people we are talking about tend to get violent if the don't get their way
  16. Hi there HG, My personal opinion would be that the verb "woo" in this case, could be taken to mean "gentle persuasion or entreaty" in a non romantic sense. More or less like wooing a prospective client and I don't think the HS gives up - ever. A book you might read is "THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT"; Pache, Rene; Copyright 1954.
  17. Hello Red, I am sorta confused (as you well know) get mathqueen to give you the answer........now, darn it I need a suggestion for my......aaaaahhhhh forgit it
  18. Hey Guys & Gal's on WB I have this problem that perhaps someone can help me with. Y'all might or might not notice that I'm just about to reach my 1000 th post and this is worrying me silly because I really need to make it thought provoking, profound and meaningful. Anyone got any suggestions or may I perhaps just say something like "He is a great and wonderful God and He loves and cherishes each one of us". or For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3: 16 KJV Gene
  19. Islam is such a relatively young "religion", lest we forget, Christianity went through similar phases. I fully agree with Glory2000 that we pray earnestly for all Muslims to be brought into the knowledge and Light of the Master.
  20. Well you certainly caught me.....I was about to engage in a circular argument as to the improbability of the basis of the incalculable odds of....Oh forget it! I lost myself somewhere there
  21. A coupla verses in the NIV + commentary in italics may perhaps be added to the above... " For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, [the Father] but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, [Jesus/Yashua] has made him known. " (John 1:17-18, NIV) " No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. " ( John 6:46, NIV)
