Not only that, the argument doesn't make any sense. The Bible rounded off, which is what A LOT of people do when dealing with Pi...especially in ancient cultures.

Lorax, who is Jesus to you?

Oh no! He's challenging my interpretation of the Bible! He must not be Christian at all!

Also, he has Horizoneast to ask him that every other topic.

I didnt know that. Has he ever answered?

And it is very much on topic. Considering what was posted, then who Jesus is to him is quite relevant.

According to I Kings 7:23-26, the number pi equals 3.0, not the irrational value mathematicians know it to be:

He made the Sea of cast metal, circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim and five cubits high. It took a line of thirty cubits to measure around it. Below the rim, gourds encircled it - ten to a cubit. The gourds were cast in two rows in one piece with the Sea. The Sea stood on twelve bulls, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south and three facing east. The Sea rested on top of them, and their hindquarters were toward the center. It was a handbreadth in thickness, and its rim was like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held two thousand baths. (NIV)

Diameter: 10 cubits

Circumference: 30 cubits

Pi: 30 cubits / 10 cubits = 3.0

This is one of those cases that proves we can't take everything literally all the time, although I'm sure many of you disagree. So let's talk.

OK let's talk then.

This is an old atheist "hot potato" used from time to time as "so called" proof that the Bible is wrong.

A good answer can be found at the following site.

pi in your eye

Read that and the links which seem to me toanswer the question admirably.

Regards

REB

And there are a LOT of such examples in both the New and Old Testaments. The Bible is a text intended to teach great truths about God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus - and our relationship with them (the trinity.)

It is not a text that was meant to teach math or science.

Grace to you,

I think it is a pertinent question regarding the fact that you linked to an atheist site that deny's the deity of Christ for your proof.

The Lord has stated this;

Mt
