i paid for my daughter to get dial-up internet... and when she tried to get online discovered she has no modem.

i found an external modem on amazon that is a good price. (i don't know that i trust her husband to install an internal one!) the system requirements include a pentium 233 mghz processer or higher.

my daughter's computer has an AMD 3200 processer. will it work?

No problem! This is like having a 2.2GHz Intel processor. Yo can read about it here. I'm not sure where she lives, but DSL is may times faster then dial-up.

oh good, thanks!

she could get high speed internet, but i didn't want to burden her with the expense when our lean months come... i'm paying for her phone service and her dial-up for her. the grand total comes to less than $30/mo for the two, which is about half the price of upgrading her to dsl.

Good points. Be warned that some sites will not allow yo on if you have dial-up. These days, they put so much code in the pages that it would take a very long time to download them to the monitor. Something to consider in the future when things get better.

It great to see a parent stepping up to help!
