Guest shiloh357
Unless he is born of a woman and of the Spirit, he will not go to heaven. Could you explain this please. What other way of being born is there? Being born of water and the Spirit refers to water of womb, not baptism. I think, that was his point. John 3 would not be referring to Christian baptism as it was not a Christian ordinance at the time Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus. There are those who believe that water immersion is required for salvation, but that doctrine is based solely upon proof texts and to be honest, a lot of poor hermeneutics. They are at a loss to explain what would happen if a person got saved in airplane and the airplane crashed before that person had a chance to be baptized. There are plenty of potential scenarios where people who have received Christ might not have access to water immersion prior to death.

There is no other way. Jesus is making the point that one must be born again (from above) to be saved, the first birth (of water) will not do, for flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Luk 23:41 "And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." Luk 23:42 Then he said to Jesus, "Lord,[fn11] remember me when You come into Your kingdom." Luk 23:43 And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."
