My teacher yesterday was saying last week how you have to be baptized to go to Heaven...etc..I was thinkin to myself, hold up, my youth pastor told me you don't..but you should be.

[Edit: Erase yesterday. lol I must not have been thinkin' when I wrote that. I just noticed it. That was dumb. haha]

So, I took the time today to see because I've never really thought about it..

Well, we're Saved by Grace..and Jesus is the Way, The Truth, and the Life...Isn't believing and trusting in Him the way to Heaven?

Isn't it more of just showing obedience to God..Not a ticket to Heaven?

What do ya'll think?

God Bless,

Kris

Kris, you are correct. Baptism is a step of obedience, a outward testimony of an inward conversion. The thief on the cross had no opportunity to be baptized, but He was offered the Kingdom by Jesus himself. Paul proclaimed that he had never baptized anyone. The belief in salvation by baptism only is a hyper application of the instruction to be baptized.

The only thing we can do is accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Anything else in works. Works will not save us. Baptism is something that you should want to do. Once you accept Jesus then you should want to be in obedience. Baptism is one of thos things that is obedience.

Yes, you must be baptized to get to Heaven. Baptized by fire, that is.

You are correct in recognizing that there are many baptisms other than water baptism. Being immersed in the Holy Spirit is the salvation experience.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - (Ephesians 2:8)

not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:9)

I have written a book on baptisms and it can be read and downloaded at this link

no no no! baptism is not a perequesite for heaven unless you are going to a catholic church which believes so.

Being born through the womb is the first birth, Being born of Gods spirit/breath is the second. Similar to genesis.

Unless he is born of a woman and of the Spirit, he will not go to heaven.

Could you explain this please.

What other way of being born is there?
