One way to start "solving" the problem is by disavowing and removing "ministers" who beat the drums of hatred, defeat and quilt from within the Houses of God!

But, who would remove them, BP? :)

O'Dannyboy

Does anyone else here find his "charisma" unsettling? . . . . ...

He 'appears' to be charistmatic, I think, because he seems to be the lesser of two evils. If he only "appears" to be Charismatic then why are you defending him and attacking Hillary? Besides, he is not the lesser of the three evils.

Place ANYONE beside Hillary - even the Beverly Hillbillies- would look charismatic. What does my question have to do with Hillary?

Obama is a very tactful politician and has stopped at nothing to win his past campaigns

So how does that make him different from any other politcian - including Republicans? And this makes it ok in your eyes?

(I can thing only of Ralph Nader who refuses to capitulate to powerful lobby groups. )

There are things at work in his campaign that make me very uncomfortable.

Ok . . what 'things' are at work that seem so ominous about him. Did I say Ominous?

He's a black man who has embraced his identuty. I thought he was multi-ethinic. Which is it?

He is not evil incarnate. And you know he is not evil how?

And he is not the ant-christ. Did I say he was? If he were receiving help from the Anti-Christ that wouldn't make him the Anti-Christ would it?

Just a liberal politician with liberal policies forging his way through the flack of a political campaign . . . He's not JUST a liberal politician. He is a presidential candidate.

I think Hillary's camp loves this diversion bcecause it works for her advantage.

It has stopped people from examining HER past - and the nebulous controversies surrounding her i.e. TAX DISCLOSURE for instance) - more closely.

:)

Please don't equate me to being to some Hillary Clinton fan. Far from it. I simply don't like how some people are falling over themselves over Obama. Not unlike yourself. I don't really like any of the candidates and you won't see me stumping for or defending any of them. I was actually asking a question. Notice the question mark? If you don't sense what I do then simply say no. Your defense of him, despite all the negativity from those he has surrounded himself with, is part of what makes me so uneasy.

How about the flock?

They agree with the "ministers" if they sit through the rants. Would you sit in the pew, jump up and down, clap and shout in agreement if someone was "preaching" this trash that Wright spews?

Myabe I am reading too much into your post. If so ,please correct me.

However when I respond to people on this board, I am NOT trying to be confrontational, or smart . I am 'chatting' and responding in, what in my head, is a conversational voice

Being a quick and practical thinker, it might come out harsh or abrupt or critical - but it is never intended to embarass. hurt, humiliate, deride anyone . . .

You , I assume ,are a Believer in Jesus Christ. So you are my brother in the Lord. We , IMO , are enmeshed as the Body of Christ - and although we differ in opinions we are ONE in the Lord. This isssue is interestingto discuss, but it is not worth falling into dispute with someone whom the Lord has united with me through His blood and with whom I will share eternity.

Its not that important.

The way I see it, is , you air your views, and are free to question mine.

And likewise, I do the same -but i'm not being sarcastic - just conversant

Thats it.

We dont need to slam-dunk each other

I dont think that is the purpose of this board anyway.

OK

So if you feel the way I communicate is aggressive ot challenging -I apologize. Its not intended that way.

As for me favoring Obama.

Quite the contraire.

I think he's a nicer candidate than Hillary. (And I never even suggested that you, O'Dannyboy, are a covert supporter of that woman)

Obama is openly pro- choice and supports same sex marriage. These are BIG moral issues for me. I wouldn't support him on moral grounds.

I am not American , so my opinion, also hardly matters anyway.

But , I dont even like McCain - although I think he is a head above these other two . He is an honorable man.

As I said there are really no inspiring candicates. - but we digress.

p.s. - do you still want me to answer your questions ? Or were they rhetorical?

:)

Does anyone else here find his "charisma" unsettling? There are simply too many people that are mezmerized by him despite the sentiment of those around him. The Chicago Tribune has been following his political career since it started. Just do a search for Obama 1996. Obama is a very tactful politician and has stopped at nothing to win his past campaigns. Why should this time be any different? There are things at work in his campaign that make me very uncomfortable.

Yes, very unsettling.

If he genuinely disagrees with such positions he would have distanced himself before it became a public issue instead of waiting for it to be exposed. He is many things no doubt but I see little if any sincerity in his words. I don't claim to know his heart either though.

What you say is a lot easier said than done. I think the fact most of the "dirt" on Obama is guilt by association rhetoric shows that he's done a good job remaining "clean" in the public eye.

You're right, it's not easy. Standing for what you believe is rarely easy. While I don't disagree completely with, as you say "guilt by association", it doesn't hold water. That's not a risk he can afford to take. He's a big boy who should stand up for what he believes and if he doesn't it's not a belief.

:24:

Yes they were rhetorical and please forgive my defensiveness. I am not at all happy with the selection of candidates we are left with. Hillary is a Socialist IMO and yes I too have a problem with her secrecy about her tax records. Obama, on the other hand is close to many overt racists and regardless how smooth he may be he cannot paint over 20 years of association with racists. Just look at the escuse his campaign managers came up with for his absence at the July 07" sermon. He was speaking at a La Raza national convention. La Raza members are unquestionably racist and if you listen to his speech then he wasn't trying to unite all races and all creeds. He was schmoozing the Hispanics by sharing with him how he can relate to how they too are oppressed. And now his Wife is, for one time in her life, proud to be an American as her husband refuses to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem and claims he refuses to wear the American flag lapel pin because he is protesting the war or something? As if now the flag somehow stands for war. As for McCain, a rep for his campaign said at a speech today that the "religious right" poses a serious threat. Nothing I am hearing makes me happy. Since damage control is the best we can expect to do this election I can only hope we chose a candidate that will be easy to clean up after.

Absolutely not! I would leave right then and right there.

I find his whole campaign unsettling -- especially the way the media just worships the guy. The media is not doing its usually job of trying to dig up every skeleton from the closet they can when it comes to this guy. He is not the anti-christ, or any of that. He's just really really slick and knows how to hype a crowd. His speech today was more of the same -- lots of words, but did he really say anything meaningful?

Hillary is probably loving this, though. While everyone is looking at Obama no one is looking into her past either. That needs to change too.
