A Question from my 11yr old son

Proverbs 15:22 Plans fail for lack of counsel,

but with many advisers they succeed.

Your father needs to find a Biblical counselor, sotphmfm, you and your brother are not able to be wise counsel for your father. What your father is doing is wrong. He should not concern you with the details of their problems. He needs to find an adult. A Christian, to get counsel from.

I can't imagine this is easy for you. I'll pray that you are strengthened through this trial. And that your father does what God wants him to do, not what he feels he should do. :emot-hug:

My ll year old son would like to ask a question about his parents divorce.

My father has no one to talk to, so he talks to me and my mother says that he should be talking to another adult instead of me. What do you think?

Lil sotphmfm

I think I'm confused. Is this your eleven yesr old son??? Your father talks to you and your mom, is the conversation about the 11 y.o. or the people getting divorced.

Who is getting divorced and what relation are they to you and if it's not your son, who is it???

I'm confused, too.

I think the very first line in the OP is sotphmfm, the lines after that are the 11 year olds.

what's so confusing? :emot-highfive: the poster is posting on behalf of her son. hmmmm... I'll adjust the wording below to see if that helps.

"My 11 year old son would like to ask a question about his parents divorce." - sotphmfm

"My father has no one to talk to, so he talks to me. My mother says that he should be talking to another adult instead of me. What do you think?" - lil sotphmfm (this is the son)

did that help? :emot-highfive::emot-highfive:

:emot-hug: you got it Apple!

Thank You

I am his mother. He saw that I was on WB one day and has been asking every since to get on.

In light of the situation I think it would be good for him to get some outside advise. :emot-hug:

Things like:

Mom wants the divorce and dad doesn't.

It looks like mom has a boyfriend.

Dad shouldn't have to pay child support if he is spending money on us.

Specific details of why mom left dad.

Dads opinion of the actions mom has taken.

Should I take sides?

Lil sotphmfm

Are these things true?

So what if they are, why are they being told a an 11 year old, the only reason for doing something like that is to make the child choose sides. You paint the other parent bad and that somehow makes you good. I've been there, it should NEVER be done to a child, its cruel and selfish. When I was divorced, my ex did it with my kids, you know what happens..........when the kids get older the one doing it becomes the bad guy by default. I never spoke badly to my kids or in front of my kids about their father. Those problems where mine and his, the kids weren't responsible for, or capable of fixing them. As they got older they finally told him he needed to stop talking about me, that I never talked badly about him and they didn't want to hear it any more.
