WASHINGTON - The Senate cleared the last hurdle Friday to passing a housing rescue aimed at sparing hundreds of thousands of homeowners from foreclosure and bolstering troubled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. :emot-hug:

How is this good news?

Who will fund the Treasury Department that is going to prop up Fannie and Freddie? I think it will be those people whose taxes are about to go through their own roof?

Absolutely. You and I are paying for this, as we are everything else.

We always end up paying for the responsibilities of others. How is this considered freedom?

Who's going to bail me out when I can't make my car payment? I don't expect the taxpayers to.

Heres the thing though, I know a couple who have a summer cottage on a lake...they are there every weekend in the summer but its closed down in the winter...its a three story cape cod type...I think thats what you call it :emot-questioned::emot-questioned:

Anyway, they are up to date with no problems on their (main) residence....but way behind on the cottage payments....they are getting help. Forgive me but if your main residence isn't in jeopardy then you should be ok...I don't agree with bailing out people with "$200,000 +" vacation homes.

I don't like to see people homeless....but these people wouldn't be, they would lose their "fun" residence....we shouldn't have to bail them out....sorry :emot-hug:

This is not good news. People need to be responsible for their actions. It is not my fault that they signed a contract without reading it. It is not my responsibility to bail out businesses that knew that their clients could not afford the houses they were buying. Take away the multi-million salaries of the officers of these companies and pay off the debt of the companies. This is not a partisan issue, either.

Unfortunately, responsible consumership has become partisan, and it's not on the part of those who do believe in personal responsibility.
