  1. Frankly that is exactly what they are talking about, they may lable it something else but that is exactly what they mean. You had something specific in mind you wanted, even went so far as to write it down, and it came to pass. The only difference is that you claim it was God and they never say that. The difference is that you KNOW the one who helped you, and they do not. Maybe it's time to introduce the two. The things we tell ourselves, "I can do it!" or "I'll never be able to do that." Have a lot to do with our success. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable
  2. My mom has pretty much bought into the Secret. I live my life by the guide of the Holy Spirit. In all my ways, I acknowledge Him, and He makes the paths before me straight. That's straight from Proverbs. We can choose to direct our own lives, or we can choose to live by the commands of God, and He will lead us. Back to my mom: Last year, as I have mentioned several times, I made a list of requirements for a mate to keep myself from falling for a man that does not meet up to certain standards, most of which were based on the Bible. I did not do it for the purpose of finding a mate as I was newly divorced; it was just for the purpose of protection. However, not long after making the list, I met a man that fit everything in the list. My mom (a Christian that often gets side-tracked with super-supernatural) told me that I put things into motion by making that list; thereby fulfilling the universal "law of attraction". However, I know that it was all through the leading of the Holy Spirit, and I also know if I did not make that list, I never would have recognized the immense value of the man I am with now, and probably would have rejected his pursuance. In summary, it was not super-spiritual gobbly-gook, it was God. I took the steps I needed to in order to insure I obey, and He laid out the path for me.

Dan was the only tribe to reject its birthright. That in itself is very significant.
  4. That makes sense. Thanks, Bibs. However, did Paul literally mean "he [man] is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man."? This says that women are not the image and glory of God, but we are merely the glory of man. I'm hoping Paul is merely laying out the order of things and nothing more. I do not believe he meant that woman is not the image and glory of God, since elsewhere [Genesis 1:27] it says she is. Don't read too much into it, and don't take it out of the context of Scripture. Use Scripture to interpret Scripture. That's how it works. It's just amazing the way God did that! What a mighty God we serve! It also says that the head of Christ is God, does that make Christ lower than God? What does it say elsewhere in the Bible about them being equal? They are equal, but each has separate roles. In order for God's will to be complete, God, Christ and the Holy Spirit have to fulfill certain roles, separate but equal roles. Marriage is the same way. Each has roles, separate but equal roles. Ok, this is getting off topic. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack! Thanks, Bibs. That makes sense. BTW, I hijacked it, but my questions were answered, so let's go back to our regularly scheduled thread.

  6. The mega churches don't set up schools for the underprivileged.
  7. That's exactly what the blogger had clarified in his comments- have it interdenominational. Question is: how is something of that magnitude going to be done?
  8. This is a serious look at what Christians should be doing, and it is making me think. It also gives a little bit of history of why we are where we are, but it is quite a bit of a broad brush. That aside, it is a good read and something all Christians need to heed. http://musiccityoracle.blogspot.com/2008/1...-should-do.html
  9. Economics. I only missed two non-economics questions, and with both of those I had trouble deciding between the correct answer and the one I gave.
  10. All of this is proving my point that Worthy members are smarter than the average bear. Yea! We is smart!
  11. Show off. My husband scored 100% and called the test easy, but Mr. Smartypants has a degree in history, works with lobbyists, and pays very close attention to politics and current events. After all he has taught me about Reformers, there was no way I was going to admit I missed the Puritain question. Shh... don't tell him.
  12. You can't find what? In the blog, click on the word "report" to find the article. Click on the last word, which is "here" to find the test.
  13. I scored 78.8%. It would not surprise me if the majority of Worthy members do more than just better than our officials, but actually pass. We have a smart group. It is concerning that we know civics better than those we have put into office. I wish the article gave more information as to how many officials and what positions they held.
  14. I wish I could make your pain go away, Angelique. I hope you take Zoe's offer. It's not good for you to be alone right now.
  15. This is why our country is in trouble. In the blog is a link to both the article on this subject and the test put out by ISI. http://musiccityoracle.blogspot.com/2008/1...d-official.html
  16. It is, and by that statement it shows I have still been delinquent with what I was trying to say. I never asked you to accept my views. I thought I had laid out my intent.
  17. Perhaps you don't want to learn and only want to debate. I have quoted what you have said regarding misunderstandings and confusions and have clearly stated I would like to clear up misunderstandings about the Reformed beliefs. I never said anything about wanting a debate. When I feel I am ready for a debate, I will have a soapbox with my old friend Blindseeker. If you want to clear up misconceptions about Calvinism, I will be happy to share what I know, but I am not interested in debating.
  18. Reformers do not believe men are condemned because God passed over them. We believe men are condemned because of sin. My point in this is based on what you had said about confusion and lack of understanding. What you have stated shows that you do not understand monergism, and one does not have to accept a belief to at least accept understanding of it. Even before I accepted the Reformed beliefs of the Bible, I understood it and attempted to explain it to those who did not understand. I will not try to convince anyone of this belief, but I also will try to explain misconceptions people have.
  19. I just had my 20th reunion in Sept. Oh, and I'm still young. It's my man that's old. He's 45.
  20. This doesn't have to do with money, but it reminded me of the story of when Abraham was waiting on the Lord for a son. He and Sarah were in a foriegn land and he told them Sarah was his sister. The king took Sarah to be his wife, then the Lord shut up the wombs of every woman and beast in the land. Abraham retrieved Sarah and prayed for the females in the land to be blessed with offspring. I don't remember how long after that had happened when Sarah conceived. The point was God blessed this nation through Abraham's obedience and prayers before giving Abraham and Sarah the same blessing. God often blesses the righteous after we have been obedient and faithful in blessing others. God is good like that.
