Is Christmas really Christian?

Recommended Posts

Matthew 15

12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

FACT

DID YOU KNOW XMAS USE TO BE OUTLAWED IN ENGLAND AND IN PARTS OF THE U.S?

Yes I did know that. Want to know the "rest of the story?"

The reason that CHRISTmas was outlawed was because just a few hundred years ago, Christmas did not resemble anything like it does today.

300 - 400 years ago, Christmas was a day for drunkness, adultery, prostitution and so forth. More crime was committed in that season. It was out of this sinful lifestyle that the "Wassailing" tradition was derived.

At that time, it was not about Christmas trees and carols and the trappings we currently associate with the holiday.

THIS DATE WAS ORIGINALLY CELEBRATED TO COMMEMORATE THE ABOMINABLE BIRTH OF MITHRAS A PAGAN SUN DIETY. CHRISTMAS IS COMPOSED ENTIRELY OF PAGANISM CLOAKED WITH A DISPLAY OF PSEUDO-CHRISTIANITY

Funny how absolutely NO archeological evidence has ever been dug up to confirm this. I am always amused at all of the carryings-on about this. If our current Christmas celebrations were the outgrowth of ancient paganism, then we should be able to find evidence of said traditions in ancient archeological records, but we don't.

(Read Carefully: The next verse confirms that Jesus Christ had already been born for at least two years prior to the visitation of the wise men at his home not at the manger. King Herod ordered the slaying of children in Bethlehem two years old and under according to the period of time that he had been informed that Christ was said to be already living on the Earth.)
The entire birth narrative, including the story of the wisemen, the flight into Egypt right up to Jesus being dedicated at the Temple, all of that took place inside of 30 days, NOT two years as we know them to be.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR TO YOU?

Isaiah 66:4 "I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not."

2King 17:10-12 "And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing."

Ezekiel 33:31

Not here debating christmas, ok? A Dec. birthdate never has made much sense to me and have heard all the normal stuff like its too late in the year to have shepards in the field etc. I came across something that never occured to me and its the timing of the pregnancies to Elizabeth and Mary. In Lukes gospel it gives when Elizabeth got pregnant and what Zacharias was doing at that time.

"There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division [or "course"] of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth " Luke 1

Since I just started reading about this I don't have a complete grasp on the subject so bare with me please. I understand that David divided up the priesthood into courses or divisions written in 1 Chronicles 24 and in Luke says he was of the division of Abihjah something to do with incense I think. And as I understand it Zacharias was serving in the temple around Pentecost and after that is when Elizabeth conceived making that time around Decemberish. When Mary goes to be with Elizabeth she is already with child since elizabeths child lept in the womb. And if Mary is around 3 months or so and she remained with Elizabeth for the birth that would put John the Babtist birth in March or April and Jesus would have been born then in Sept. or Oct. I have heard the Sept and Oct dates debates all over but never had I heard it described using the timing of Zacharias' temple service. I found it interesting. Can anyone tell me anything else about this?

Jesus was most likely born during the Festival of Succot, which makes sense because it was a pilgrimage festival that Joseph would have had to have observed. He had to present Himself at the Temple in Jersualem during the festival, and so it would have made sense that He and Mary would have traveled to at that time together to accomplish both fulfilliing his spriritual duties in Jerusalem and fulfilling his civil duty to register in Bethelehem for the census underway at that time.

All of the evidence points to Jesus being born during that festival. It is my personal conviction that He was born on the first day of that Festival, but that is something I cannot prove.
