I believe that there is ample enough evidence in Scripture (Specifically Revelation) to believe that the New Jerusalem will not be a literal city as such. But that the descriptions have deeper significance through symbolism.

Do you suppose it looks something like a square Death Star from Star Wars?

Nope - sounds more like a Borg vessel.

;)

Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

I think if we focus on the size in our measurements instead of the symbolic number in the original text, we lose a great deal of the meaning meant for us in the passage.

With a blessing,

Leonard, a sinner

Leonard -

So what does that mean to you then?

God-man -

Scripture and verse?

God-man -

Scripture and verse?

Rev. 1:1 "The revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave to Him to show to His slaves the things that must quickly take place; and He made it known by signs, sending it by His angel to His slave John."

Rev. 12:1, 3 "And a great sign was seen in heaven..." "And another sign was seen in heaven..."

Rev. 15:1 "And I saw another sign in heaven..."

John also uses metaphors to describe the New Jerusalem that show us that it is not a literal city.

I think i will have to pray on this and study revelation again. Thanks for the input :t2:

God Bless,

Dave

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:16 And the city lies foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

He measured the city.

Well, here's a puzzle.

The Church is the Bride of Christ, right?

Yet the angel tells John that the New Jerusalem is the Bride of Christ.

Rev. 21:9, 10

And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

What does that tell you? :t2:
