I am sorry you are dealing with this. Christian members do need to have compassion, understanding and kindness when it comes to someone who is disabled. Especially someone who is a Worthy minister. George has put more responsibility on those people and they should reflect God's goodness. -

Yes, I used to love to hold a real book. But books are expensive. If you get used books that are cheaper they can be bad quality.I have gotten used books that have a heavy chemical or perfume odor in them. I am allergic to those odors. I once got a library book that had dead bugs in it. I had to scrape the dead bugs off. So then I decided to get a Kindle. They are expensive but I thought it would be an investment. Some authors have increased the price of their novel for the Kindle. -

Yes, it is relaxing and gets your mind off all the stressful worldly issues going on today. You go into another world or decade. It is also educationing and a good brain exercise. -
Sometimes late at night doing some reading can send one off to sleep finally...........

I would prefer to read Christian fiction novels. A lot more healthy for the mind and eyes. -

Right now I am reading "The Runaway" by Melanie Dobson. It is about the quakers and how they hid the blacks and put then on the underground railroad. It is good. I only read Christian fiction novels and I am having a problem with novels not even including God or using some swear words. That is disappointing. I am seeing this mostly on the newer Christian fiction novels. -

Yes, there have been a couple of books that I have loved. Loved the characters and was sad when I finished that book. I read "All Creatures Great and Small". A great book. I read it a long time ago. -

Do you have any books that you wish would never end after you've finished reading them? All Creatures Great and Small was like that for me. It was written by James Herriot, a veterinarian in Scotland. It is about his life as an animal doctor and the many amazing experiences he had as he treated his patients. -

I would give up on the library and second hand books too, if that had happened to me! -

The physical books were getting so expensive. I am an avid reader and I go through a lot of books. Some of the cheaper used books were becoming really bad quality. One book I got from the library had dead bugs in it that I had to scrape off. I have an allergy to fragrances and I have gotten some used books that had really strong perfume smells in them. That gave me a headache and I had to return the book. -

I'm with you: No smartphone. 😀 But then I get so used to tapping on Kindle that, when I'm reading a physical book, it takes me a while to lose the instinct to tap the page. hahaha When this happens in public I blush a little... -
Not absurd at all. My therapist tells me to do everything in small bites - just don't stop.

I have the new Kindle paper white. The tapping and swiping was a new experience for me since I have never had a smartphone. I know now that I never want a smartphone. They have increased the price of the Kindle books. They are a lot cheaper than a regular book. -

I have one. It has more than ten years and keeps going. I keep it in my purse, in case I'm stuck waiting somewhere. If I travel, Kindle is going, for sure. We can read without turning the lights on, which other passengers appreciate. And we have a ton of choices, without adding weight. But nothing surpasses a physical book, in my opinion. -

I'm so sorry. I was thinking... What if you find a book of short essays, or tales, or poetry and started from the last essay/tale/poem, then read the one in the middle, then the first one, then the penultimate, until there is nothing more to read? Is this suggestion too absurd? 🥴 -
I love to read. But since my mother died three years ago, I have had depression/anxiety flare ups and one of my symptoms is that I have trouble finishing anything. Finishing cleaning the kitchen, reading a book, preparing for Sunday School, and I have to make a lot of lists to make sure I pay the bills and gas up the car, etc. I would love to start reading again.

I have the app. It is good for the e-books I sometimes purchase. I can highlight stuff, and add notes too. A useful innovation in my book . . . -

For all you pretrib believers there is a book that is excellent that you would love it is "The Great Disappearance" by Dr. David Jeremiah. -
My reading of Josephus has made me aware of the extremes of Jewish ideology from the Babylonian Captivity to the Advent of Christ. Following various concessions to their Babylonian and Medo-Persian overlords, many Jews inherited a willingness to incorporate pagan aspects into their worldview and lifestyle, with Greek philosophy becoming so popular that a strong counter-culture to it emerged which eventually took the Pharisees into legalism.
