Michelle's cause is obesity in children (The "Let's Move" initiative, for which the President is asking Congress to cut food stamps). My impression of the two is that the few times they have paid attention to the troops it's mainly been for the photo-op. Soldiers that I have personally talked to, and from whom I have read accounts, have said that Bush is far more respected and loved than Obama. They don't trust a commanding officer whose heart and will are behind them, and who doesn't believe in the cause for which they are fighting. Every time Obama visits a foreign dignitary who is adverse to America he is viewed as being apologetic. Soldiers see that, and they don't trust him.
Ah...OOPPSS. SORRY. I accidentally edited your post instead of posting a new one of my own. I don;t know how that happened. I'm still sort of getting used to posting again with this new format. Please forgive me. It was not intentional at all.
Don't worry about it. This new format threw just about all of us at first.
Mrs. Obama IS involved with fighting obesity in children (and that's a good cause) but she also meets regularly with military families. It's just not reported as much as the work with kids, I guess. See here....
