  2. Putting the Cat Out

A new English teacher was doing class. "Now then", he said, "I want you to compose me a sentence using the words "narrative" and extinguish". "What's a narrative sir?" "A narrative is a tale" "Right sir" "What does extinguish mean?" "To put out". Winning sentence? "Yesterday I picked up the cat by the narrative and extinguished it". Best
  3. Dumb Court Questions

So Sgt, in pitch darkness you had my client in view for seconds, in what you have described as a tense situation? Yes Sir And then the man, which you say was my client ran away, and it was 20 minutes before you saw him again? Yes Sir Then tell us Sgt. How can you be sure that my client was the man that you detained at the scene? Your client was still wearing my handcuffs Sir.
  4. A different kind of Christmas Poem

The officer who wrote this poem is up there with Blake, Sassoon and all of the other war poets. It just nails you to the floor. We just do not know how lucky we are, in the UK where I live, and in the USA, and all of the free world
  5. Christ is near, story of a little girls faith

Chptr 2: A New Day; A New Start Pastor John came early the next morning to see Katie. He walked in to Katie resting along side the toilet bowl, the chemo had made her sick all night through. He knelt by her side and prayed over her "Lord I pray you heal her soul, let your hand reach out to her and touch her now lord, I pray you touch everyone in this hospital and especially her mother lord for she does not know you and Katie, she has a yearn to know you lord--make that possible for her we know all things are in your time lord, I pray you send her comfort and joy lord amen" Katie looked up at him with blood trickling down her face from her nose she began to weep as Pastor John wiped the blood from her face.He quoted John 3:16 to her as she asked "why did God send his son to get hurt?". John was surprised by this and happy it would lead into such a good conversation. He told her that He sent Jesus to die on the cross so people would know the sacrifice and repent their sins but that some people did not like Jesus and he died for them and the ones who believed and that Jesus rose from the dead after 3 days to show that he was the son of god. Katie soon got it that Jesus came for us and learned that He helped the blind to see, he helped a boy who was possesed, and he helped feed thousdands of people at once but she was amazed most that he helped a man walk and he himself walked on water. She learned of the angel who came to mary, and to joseph. She learned that Jesus is with everyone even with non-believers like her parents. About a week later Katie learned that she could return home briefly to spend a bit of time with her parents. At dinner with her parents and little brother Katie talked about what John had taught her so far about Jesus, her mother Katherine told Katie not to talk about it, but she saw her fathers smile and liked to see her dad smile so she told them about how jesus walked on the water to the people in the boat. Katherine had had enough, she raised her hand to Katie and as her hand met Katies cheeck her father stood up took Katie and her brother out of the room and began arguing with Katherine. Alone in her room Katie prayed to this person named Jesus not knowing if he could really hear her or not she prayed "Jesus help mom and dad not fight, I dont like it when mom hits me, help her not be mean so much please" She heard a glass break mean words come from her mom and the door slam shut as her mom drove away in her car. Katie felt her heart break she ran to her bed and with a nose bleed starting up she cried and cried for atleast an hour before she realized she was coughing, she was coughing so hard she began to bleed. She screamed for her dad who came rushing in, he stared in horror and ran her and her little brother downstairs calling 911. The EMT's took Katie to the hospital where her doctor waited fearful and shocked. She had a chest tube inserted to drain fluid from her lungs and an IV full of fentynal for the extreme pain the geenec medication was going to cause. Her father waited for to get better in a chair by her bed for 2 days, he talked with Pastor John and did not give his life over to God but did promise to maintain a friendship with God. John was there when Katie woke that night, he told her to read Moses' story in Exodus and then he left the hospital. Katie soon learned that the night John left he was in a terrible accident, a drunk driver had taken her mentors life, she was shocked, she could not believe that God would take such a good man away. But she did as he had told her and read Moses' story and realized that God had used John as her shepard, he pulled Katie from the struggle of her moms power up to Gods hands so that God could begin to work in her and for that she would always remember Pastor John I'll post more later, not feeling good rite nw I hope that it's a lot of chapters away, but perhaps we might have John back? (Psalm 23). Or as my gran's grave would have it, "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day". Just bouncing ideas to a fellow writer. Take them or leave them. I lost a very good friend to leukemia, - started as nothing more than toothache. But Andy, all 6'3 of him, bravest lacrosse player I ever saw just gave up. Whatever the ending is, Katie cannot give up. She might not win, but she cannot give up. Best medicine in the world is laughter, hence the lollipops at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Perhaps a story of hope to others?. I really love your work. I'm sure that you know that there was a single mother, who had the price of a cup of tea, and used to sit in a cafe with that just to keep warm. And she wrote. She's richer, (I think), than the Queen now. So you stick with it. I'll be your most avid reader. Keep well, and see you soon.

  7. I can follow the logic. But why HRH Prince William, - because after HRH Prince Charles, he will be King. (HM always considers such matters, having an old family firm to run). HRH Prince Harry would get my vote though
  8. Christ is near, story of a little girls faith

I'm with you Believer. All of my life I have wanted to be a writer. This has the portent of a story. I don't know how old the poster is, (none of my business anyway), and I suppose that my last post was, (wholly wrongly), jumping on his story. I apologise to you and the author. I'd love Chapter two. No kidding. I do not have the guts that this kid has, to publish on the web. But when he/she is signing those books in Manchester, I'm first in the queue.
  9. Christ is near, story of a little girls faith

I once had the honour to go out with a children's nurse from the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital at Pendlebury. I asked her once how she dealt with it. Her answer was "bald heads and hope. If they can cope with it, so can I". Does it make you cry Barbara?. Yes. Every shift. But we have "Radio Lollipop" A brilliant piece of writing. Take Katherine to the Chapel next time. But let her ask a member of staff, not a pastor. My suggestion only, but not a doctor or nurse. Maybe's a porter or cleaner. God Bless
