  1. Am I correct then in my understanding of the two judgements?
  2. I love this! What a great study, I printed it out...
  3. Are we chosen as in selected from among the multitudes by the Lord? OR do we in our freewill choose the Lord?
  4. The concept of being Jewish is as much a nationality as it is a religion.
  5. Okay, here's one I am really confused about.... The way I understand is that once you confess the Lord and believe in your heart, you are saved. Period. Then there are two judgements. First judgement separates the sheep from the goats, the believers from the unbelievers. Second judgement holds each saved believer accountable for deeds and words in their Christian walk. As for whether there is punishment as well as reward, I haven't heard or read anything like that for believers, only unbelievers. I'm just sure there is accountibility for all believers.
  6. Thank you, Dr. Luke--I hadn't quite figured how Peter's faith walk fit into that picture. I was reading John this morning and that scene just opened up for me. Isn't it incredible how the Bible can do that to you? You can read a story or account over and over and then one day a new revelation hits you.
  7. I think the story about Jesus walking on the water is a good picture of the end times and His second coming. The disciples went away in the boat out onto the waters, He went up on the mountain (ascended to heaven) A great storm came up (the tribulation times) He delivered them miraculously He even transported the boat to the shore 'immediately'. Could that be a picture of the rapture?
  8. AngelH One thing I am learning about people not coming around after you've accepted the Lord (they scatter like a bunch of chickens ) One you are in the Lord, you are in the Light, and the darkness can't stand the Light because it exposes their sins. People get real uncomfortable around the Light, and many are beset by demons hanging around them (we do not battle against flesh and blood but aginst rulers of darkness, or thnk of them as demons). These 'demons' know the Lord and are afraid of Him. It's a crazy reality, you'll come to understand this more as you grow in your faith and understanding of the Gospel. Things get pretty black and white. Wisdom and CD: I am J.Strks wife, posting now as OneAccord instead of under his handle and it was interesting to see my post from months ago come up again. I'm happy to say I'm still on fire and the Holy Spirit is washing me clean.................
  9. Has anyone seen any of the Tri_mark video series? They have movie-length dramatizations of several books of the Old Testament plus Jesus, and Peter and Paul from the new. From the OT there is: Genesis Esther Moses Jeremiah David Solomon I just watched Jeremiah today, it was powerful, wonderful scenery, costumes, faces, and music....I want to see the whole set!
  10. I wonder if the 'days of Noah' are the same as the 'great falling away' that happens in the end times. If they are the same, certainly this new age explosion of do-it-yourself religion is a big sign of the times
  11. Here is a good place to start: Matthew 6:25-34 Also the Psalms are just full of comforts. You can be SURE that the Holy Spirit will lead you to just the right verses. Sometimes if I have Christian radio playing, a verse or message just for me (so it seems) will come on, or a friend at church will give me a verse. God is wonderful like that, in giving us our daily bread to sustain us in times of trouble. The Bible is FULL of comfort and hope, read it prayerfully and it will just open up to you and feed your very soul. I pray you can be delivered of your anxieties and worries, and that the Lord will do a mighty work in your life to draw you nearer to Him, and increase your faith and trust in Him. Keep seeking Him diligently and with all your heart and He will take care of you, sister. He really will! :inlove:
  12. Wisdom: You mentioned Dr. David Jeremiah, and right now he's doing his radio series 'Turning Point' on the Book of Daniel, out of his book called 'The Handwriting on the Wall'.
  13. Hi CD, besides the passage quoted from Paul above, you can find the passage you are seeking in Revelation chapter 2 verses 1-7, Jesus
  14. You better duck, Levi! Stones are gonna fly!
  15. Do you think that linen cloth is really so thin? I hope it's not so easily torn away!
  16. On this thread, the comment I made was not neccessarily about prophets and prophesying, but about doctrinal differences, and alienating those who percieve differently, as in the roots of the divisions within the church that cause there to be so many denominations. How can we really know who's right?
  17. Hey, he's got the right idea! If you only speak scripture nobody's gonna argue with you!
  18. The scripture says that the young man followed Him, I assumed he was a follower. Also you seem to assume the young men that grabbed him were the soldiers, whereas I assumed it was the disciples! I really liked Wordsower's answer, that in running he was knowingly betraying Jesus, and his garment was thin because he perhaps was not fully in faith. If we ever run from Jesus, after knowing Him, we run naked. I even think maybe there is some end-time meaning hidden here, if during tribulation we were ever put on 'the stand' and asked to deny Christ or be beheaded (using movie versions of endtimes i've seen) those with thin linens might choose to run, and they would run naked. Shamed. Wow! Interesting! It's so wonderful how scriptures can be so laden with meaning that seem like insignificant and often not even noticed events! Thanks for helping me understand this, hope we're on the right track..............
  19. It seems that in the labyrinthe of Christian perspectives and there are many, and that's why there are so many denominations, how can you really be sure who is so right and who is so wrong? (You can answer, if it lines up with scripture, but I have seen people use scripture to defend every side).
  20. I'm sure there is an easy explanation for this question out there: In Matthew 1, the genealogy of Jesus was given from Abraham down to Joseph.
  21. Does anyone want to take this up? I found these scriptures odd, and am curious to unlock their meaning. I understand that nakedness in the Bible is generally shame, and this thin linen cloth might perhaps be
  22. Here's my take on this article, for what it's worth. Yes, things will seem to be getting better and better, more religious freedoms, et al. BUT the anti-christ will then rise up and claim the glory, and many will turn to him and bow down to him. It is part of the master plan of deception, to lure people to him through the facade of world peace and global unity. And yet it will all be just a whitewash, not true mortar, and many will be decieved. It may even come about in the guise of Christianity, much as the crucifixion was brought about by the Jews of that day.
