Worthy News: Democrats Take Control of House, GOP Battles to Avoid Cap
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in U.S. News
I think the results would have been a little more clear cut but they really should hold all Federal elections on weekends or declare election days as federal "holidays" or something. I personally do no like how the political "party" system has facilitated polarising the American people. There were even comentators on television and radio who were claiming that some of the democrats being elected were "conservative". I would like to know who or what they are using as a baseline to make such statements. Conservative compared to whom? Hilary Clinton or Nancy Pelosi? I still believe that majority of Americans' core values are in line with my own it's simply that those that are running for office and are being elected to represent us are not in tune with the American people and vote based on the amount of influence they can gain. Our political system is nothing more than a game of power, influence and prestige and has little more to do with actuall problems of the citizenry than does the aftertaste of a fruit punch bought in a gallon jug at the supermarket. -
I just got back from seeing this and I don't feel cheated. It was wonderfully romantic yet it had enough drama to keep you squirming in your seat till the very last. There is a quote that goes as follows "Oh what a tangeled web we weeve when first we try to deceive" or at least I think thats how it goes. The layers of betrayal and deception almost catch you off guard at one point. I think the movie will cause alot of women to reflect and perhaps more curious about the history of Jews via the Bible. The movie does not leave you feeling convicted of anything except to explore your spiritual side. In the beginning I felt as though the movie might lend itself to creating a sense of comeradery between Jews and "persians" only to find at the end that they seemed to almost flaunt the fact that Mordachai was made a prince of Persia. I felt pushed and pulled at the end and somewhat confused, as some have said, about the purpose in making a movie about this story. Ultimately the motives behind making the movie seem focussed on profitability rather than any message, but I truly hope I am wrong.

Worthy News: 'Islamic indoctrination' taken to Supreme Court -
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in U.S. News
I do not care for the school system teaching or endoctrinating our children to ANY religion or faith. I do believe that children should be able to gather on school property to discuss their beliefs as long as it does not interfere with academics during school hours. Obviously no religion should be taught in a public school but there should be no reason why religious expression should be regulated just because a childs parents don't like what their children are saying. The idea that a parent would be offended because their child overheard other children talking about Jesus is frustrating. I suppose those same parents would be fine with classes on Islam or witchcraft as long as Jesus were left out. -
This is infuriating to the point of tears. Such outright contempt should not be "tolerated" by anyone, especially those who preach "tolerance" while accusing Christians of being the least tolerant. Even if the lady wins it is not likely the company will be fined or punished. They will probably get a slap on the wrist and be advised that in order to do such as that it must be in company policy stating that crosses aren't allowed. It's also likely that they will try to paint turbans and other head coverings as an "ethnic" requirement rather than religious.

Worthy News: North Korea Threatens War Against U.S. - AP
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in World News
I liken this situation to that of a rebelious child. The current sanctions would be the equivalent of being sent to their rooms and having their television taken away for a week. Now North Korea is stomping its feet as it hurls hatefull comments down the stairs on their way to their room to lock themselves in. North Korea is spending alot of effort to make this situation look like it is somehow the fault of the U.S. rather than the threatening behavior of a power hungry and desperately imperialistic regime. Even under pressure from several nations the North Korean leadership still is trying to Make it look like this is all the U.S.s fault. It's sad really and I don't even think the U.N. will fall for that one. -
I didn't write the articles, I'm just commenting on them. But so far, even if I were over reacting we certainly have every reason to be on our toes don't you think? If we dismissed every meeting Assad had, after being reported to have said he was preparing for war against Israel, we would be fools indeed.

Fears over second nuclear test, by North Korea
O'Dannyboy replied to buckthesystem's topic in World News
Perhaps China needs it's buttons pushed. It's been covering for two nasty regimes, not that they are any better, and at every turn thier allies are instigating fights. It's like an OX of a man (like a pro wrestler) who has friends who get mouthy because they know he will defend them only to find that they go out of their way to cause a scene that forces him to defend them on a regular basis. At some point the big guy has to get tired of bailing his friends out. Perhaps China has had just about enough from North Korea and is likely to step aside and let them suffer the consequences for their big mouthes. -

O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in World News
It's the same tactic Iran has been using. To me it's like saying I will take it personal if you do that. It's no diferent than liberals calling you a racist merely for wanting secure borders. What North Korea is doing is making a threat by promissing to overreact of sancions are imposed. It's childish behavior really. It's like saying, if I can't break the rules I'm not going to play anymore. -
They would have felt their intentions were good. They feel they are trying to spread some enlightenment, free people from the yoke of superstition. Their methods are childish, their intentions are good, and there is no hatred, rather concern. How can you possibly know what their intentions were? How would you feel if someone told you that you were not inteligent enough to do this job or that? They may have had "good" intentions in that they did not wish to see you embarass yourself but ultimately they would likely have hurt your feelings none the less. Intention, good or bad, doesn't change what is or isn't sin. Consider Rahab when she lied to the soldiers in an agreement that saved her family. Either way she saved lives but still she lied and so she sinned. Her sin was, forgiven for having saved those who were in Gods favor, but her actions did not erase the sin and basically served as sacrifice for that sin. Yes, I would say there are some gray areas but it is highly doubtfull that they thought they(the pranksters) would be doing anyone a favor by commiting these acts but rather only wanted to ridicule and embarass them if they (the pranksters) were able. It's nothing more than a prank meant to make others feel rejected and demoralised, like pointing out that they have buck teeth and laughing at them. I believe their intentions were less than honorable. If they actually thought or cared that we Christians were being led astray, why not confront them rather than planting video disks in our gathering places? Why? Because they were up to no good, plain and simple.

Worthy News: Michigan Schools OKs Teaching Evolution in Science Class,
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in U.S. News
I have to scratch my head on this one. I learned about evolution in public school but I was tought that it was theory. The only negative thing here is that they still refuse to offer "inteligent design" as an opposing scientific view. I guess if they hinted at the possibility that aliens intruduced the first DNA then it might be "scientific" enough for them. They are more likely to believe that aliens introduced all the diferent species as part of some experiment before they would believe that an all powerful being/God created life. -

It's not going to change my vote. One republican involved in behavior that one would have expected from a Democrat is hardly going to shake my confidence. I am hopefull that this is the beginning of a serious shakedown of our elected officials. It's time they were reminded that they are not above the law and that they are being watched. Big brother indeed! -
Of course its demonic. Atheism is itself demonic. You cannot be an atheist without being led by a spirit of anti-christ. The definition of "anti-christos" encompasses all atheists, and as well all false religions. No, its childish. On the level of fraternity pranks. the 666 thing is used because they think it will freak christians out. You can see by (most) of the replies to this thread that it doesn't. You can see by (most) of the replies this thread that many christians have: 1. A sense of humour 2. A sense of proportion 3. A forgiving and loving nature Stunts like this will no more shake the foundations of the church than spraying swastikas on jewish cemeteries will bring down the state of Israel. You and they may only think it's a childish prank but ultimately their intentions were not good, hense they were evil. While I do not percieve them to be any threat it does not change that their mischeif was born of a deeper seeded hatred.

Israel, islam and armageddon
O'Dannyboy replied to sweetycakes's topic in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
I share your views, Dannyboy Except the part where you say regarding Lebanon, that Israel was on the offensive. Don't forget that Israel was responding to the capture of two Israeli soldiers I myself am a pacifist at heart. I hate war and violence. But I see from reading the scriptures that God Himself will defend Israel. That is good news, I believe. If God won't defend Israel, then man's attempts to do so would be futile, in my opinion. Victory to Israel, in any case! They say the best defense is a good offense. Thats just what they did. Sure it was a response but they were on the offensive none the less. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing or that they were unjustified, I'm just calling it like I see it. I expext that Israel will respond to any threat with the same zeal. They don't have a choice. Think of them as the new guy on cell bock 23. Either they fight back or they will wind up someones boyfriend or worse. Law of the Jungle. Theres another saying, when in Rome do as the Romans do. You know, fight wire with fire. All I am saying by this is that Israel needs to show that it means business if they expect their neigbors, who want them dead, to take them seriously. -
What, by calling for a meeting between himself and the leaders of other Arab countries? Hardly the most provocative thing he's done. As to the Israelis having people: "within reach of many of their leaders", I doubt it! There is a longish and interesting BBC interview with Assad here, broadcast yesterday in the UK, so very recent THIS is why he is meeting with all these leaders. It's pretty obvious what his intentions are. He is using some phantom Israeli threat as an excuse to build his army. He is more likely planning something not so neighborly and is trying to increase his defensive capability. Not that it will help. The Bible tells us that Damascus will be uninhabitable and the only way Israel will nuke Damascus is if they are provoked.

Worthy News: Bush: U.S. 'Reserves All Options' To Defend Again
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in World News
OK! Which is it?!? Are they keeping all the options on the table yet trying to indicate they they have no plans to attack? Haven't they already tried this with Iran? I think they need to make up their minds. Don't they understand how redundant it is to threaten retaliation? It's a given! Either take a forceful stance or don't but please stop with the "agressive diplomacy". It's giving me a headache. -
Fears over second nuclear test, by North Korea
O'Dannyboy replied to buckthesystem's topic in World News
I kind of wish they would do a second test. They will have certainly rubbed China the wrong way. According to what I have heard North Korea has not yet been successful in attatching nuclear warheads to their missles, at least not their long range missiles. This offers the world community a window of oportunity to deal with them before they get too brazen. There is little doubt that North Korea has or is threatening to give the technology to Iran and is simple using all these tests as a form of sabre rattling. It seems rather than being compliant and friendly Pyong Yang would rather threaten other nations to get what it wants. -
Worthy News: Mexico May Take Fence Dispute to U.N. - Washington Post
O'Dannyboy replied to George's topic in World News
The U.N. Has no say in how or when we protect our borders. If Mexico doesn't like it then tell them to stop the waves of illegals from comming over our border. I think it show poor character on the behalf of the Mexican govenment to refer this to the security coucil when Mexico itself is doing nothing but encouraging the "invasion". If Mexico doesn't want a 6000 long wall along the border then they need to with the program and make some sort of effort to discourage its citizens from leaving. Either way, the U.N. has no say over how we control our borders. Mexico is only making it more obvious that they are behind the exodus and are acutually financing the invasion rather than trying to stop it. -

Haemorrhoid cream not for the face
O'Dannyboy replied to buckthesystem's topic in Weird and Wacky News
Believe it or not, years ago while I was in the Air Force I had a room mate that got jock itch. In an attempt to rid himself of the fungus he sprayed himself in the groin area with raid. I couldn't help but laugh as he screamed and howled as he rolled around on his back. The sad part is that a doctors visit doesn't cost a thing when your in the military. He did finally see a doctor after trying various foot powders and over the counter ointments. I'm pretty sure he didnt try preperation-H though. -
It's interesting. I have to wonder how many of these six hundred and six people will be saved or have the seed planted within them. At the churches I have attended the majority of people come through the doors with a big smile on their faces and surely this will impact even unbelievers. Now that I think about it, we should all make it a point to bring at least one person who professes to be Christian to church with us, especially on Easter.
