If this is the truth, why are women allowed as pastors?
When Paul wrote this there was a situation going on and the wives wanted to get answers to their questions. Bible scholars have documented the fact that bizarre Gnostic heresies were circulating throughout the region at that time and these false teaching posed a serious threat to the infant Christian churches that were starting. Certain cultic worship practices involving female priestesses of the Greek fertility goddess, Diana, had invaded the church of that day. Also take into account that in the Greek and Middle Eastern culture during the first century, women did not have educational opportunities, and in fact it was considered disgraceful for them to learn. What Paul wanted was for the learned to speak. Women needed to learn from their husbands. Not blurt out questions during the time in the tabernacle.
