  1. Choosing the true religion is of utmost importance. Check this flow chart to see if you are on the right forum! {edit link} copy and paste!
  2. View 4 The church was being guided(reformed) since Christ formed it. I only mean to say, there were erroneous beliefs among the disciples. And after Christs ascension the Apostles had differences they had to hash out. Just a cursory inspection of church history shows strife and reform through out the years. My opinion, the Accuser charged Gd that he could claim more souls if Gd didn't supernaturally hold the church together. And what the devil meant for evil Gd used for good. The devil just multiplied his own troubles. The church has been under attack since day one.
  3. What I say! I'm with you on this one. If we threw every thing out of scripture that wasn't directly taught to general believers. I'm afraid we wouldn't have much to go on. And Paul was right the teachings are for the gentile also. On the other hand, it does help to identify who the intended listener was in order to find the true meaning of the text. I am also with you on the free will part but that will be argued till He comes back.
  4. Sorry I can not find how to delete reply
  5. "That man is greedy." We are commanded to give to those who would even spitefully use you. And didn't Jesus sit with the sinners. How much like Christ are you!!!!!!!!! awesome!!!!!! But as far as backwards thinking goes. I have seen posts blasting the health care bill by Christians not because of abortion or killing grammy but because we will have to pay for it. Like your friend getting the thumbs up, this was a moment that surprised me. I'm new to the forumsphere. But I've been to a church with at least a thousand families only about 20% help support the church much less give for the needy. Even the Body of Christ is having trouble thinking, I shouldn't expect more from the worldly.
  6. Wow Miss Elly!!!!!!! I hope you are not my judge on that day?!!!! I join those in prayer for and thank my Father for Mel. He does have an on going problem though. If he believes in Catholic (he's supposed to be) doctrine, his civil divorce means nothing and he is living in a state of adultery. He'll need a miracle to release him from those bonds. I'm not trying to turn this thread into a Catholic vs. argument. Just saying, he professes to be catholic. Have mercy Father and Miss E

    Cain and Able

Is there any scripture that says that Adam and Eve were the only humans Gd made from the dust of the earth. Is there a chance that scripture just doesn't record such an action. Sin, I guess, would have been committed by each set of parents to be passed on through lineage. Just throwing out speculative theory.
  8. I have to say, along with the scientists, that it is good to see the countries of the world tackling problems together even not so collaberatively.(that's a word)? Old enemies realizing a common foe, and a common objective. I only wish Christian denominations would do the same, what a stench arguing creates. All those countries that want to live and let live, and help the unfortunate, how cool. Thanks, I like uplifting news.
  9. --I think there are at least 2 distinct uses of "works" in scriptures. --Those that are mentioned above, that like prayer, draw us near unto Him, and are effective in growing better christians. --And those that refer to the works of the law. In which case it would mean all the prescribed ritual washings, prayers, abstinence s, sacrifices, and etc. by the Law of Moses from the old covenant. --Or at least my understanding, of course not getting into the "war" of works=salvation controversy. That war sheds more of Christ's Blood than any. As witnessed by many posts.
  10. Thou shalt not kill really means thou shalt not murder(ie without reason). I'm sure you've heard this because that would mean a person doesn't have the right to defend her family or her country or little children from others who murder. Other wise the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) would be a murder charge against God. I think we are supposed to believe that God was saving some(Isreal) from the spiritual diseases of the people who lived in the promised land first. I'm not saying he was right, God "only" will judge him. If you "really believe" the doctor was murdering babies then you should also believe the guy was protecting babies. I'm saying that I think the culture has influenced christian thinking more than christian thinking has influenced the culture. I would not condemn the brave soldiers of our country who are over seas trying to protect others(you, me, and the people of those nations. Just because killing babies is legal here doesn't make it less than murder in God's eyes. There's a great post here about who's guilty, the teacher who is in the video makes a great point. We, as Christians, are not standing for what we believe, we are being silenced by the culture. That's the kind of culture God told the Isrealites to go kill all the men, women, children and yes even their animals.

    Abortion

The cath's say the same thing, it is a moral duty to vote and vote your morals. They took alot of flack for it too. "In the case of an intrinsically unjust law, such as a law permitting abortion or euthanasia, it is never licit to obey it, or to take part in a propaganda campaign in favour of such a law, or vote for it." -- Pope John Paul II, The Gospel of Life (73) A voter's guide for serious cath's and their 5 nonnegotiable s state it well. Also as for guilt. Surely the guy didn't mean that every one voted for pro-abortion candidates. It sounds like he's saying the bulk of the church is sleeping. Hence, his story about the voting in Texas. If the numbers I have heard are close,(America is 90% Christian), it's time for the sleeping giant to awake!
  12. "How do you fix teachings like this without damaging her faith in God. So easely she can become an athiest." Are you saying, you are afraid that she won't like the answer? I am asking because I had a new Christian say she didn't like all the "legal lope holes" that she always heard about receiving answers to prayer. The list seams endless and daunting. It goes like- you didn't ask right- you didn't ask in the name- He only gives us what is good for us- your prayers aren't heard because you have sin between you and He, and the list goes on and on for unanswered prayer. Is that what you are saying? Or ? Sorry I'm confused
  13. Yeah I thought I had that dealt with but not so much. Wars, diseases, famines, no I don't get it.
