  3. Someone in that family must believe in Jesus as Savior
  4. Act 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Yes i know the scripture is out of context, but it expresses my thoughts to the topic.
  5. I am wondering how the sins of omission are taken into account in this definition? Does the law somewhere command us to go good, or is this merely a response to the first commandment? "Does the law somewhere command us to go good, or is this merely a response to the first commandment?" sorry to throw a small spanner at you Mat 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. Mat 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. Not Moses (the Law), not Elias (the Prophets) but Jesus, the Word of God. what does Jesus say Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. ops Who can be perfect as God is? Well..Jesus is. Therefore if we are in him..... Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Me thinks...We try our best and trust in Jesus, knowing very well that we mess up every day. We confess that we are sinners and live by grace Remember..it takes only one sin to be separated from God...Adam proved that. Hence, we live by GRACE! as for sins of omission...well, if one happens to realize them...confess and repent. However, most sins of omission are unknown to us and i am grateful for that.... else I would run about all day screaming
  6. Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
  7. Joh 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God. Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) The Law of Moses (some 600+ regulations. This includes the 10 commandments ). The Law of God, given to the Jews trough Moses, was never given to the Gentiles. The Gentiles are not under that Law. Hence, the Gentiles will not be judged by the Law of Moses. However, the righteous requirements of the Law of Moses are universal. what are these righteous universal requirements? Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. they are also called the everlasting gospel Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. further Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. What have they done? They knew God.... They knew the everlasting gospel... They knew that doing evil will bring judgment.... They refused to accept the Lord's offer of salvation. God's work is to believe in the one he send... Jesus
  8. Psa 103:10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. Psa 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. Psa 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. WOW... am I glad that this is so Good sermon Mike
  9. Carry it before our Lord and Savior, forgive your manager, and leave it be. Let the Lord take care of things, and don't give the Accuser a foothold in your life.
  10. If it is the non-denominational Church of Christ... do not waste your effort. I have come through that gate. They believe that one is not saved unless one is baptized. However, despite being ultra-conservative in their views... they are brothers and sisters in Christ. As are many other groups who hold similar views. Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Rom 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
  11. Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. However.... Mat 21:23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? Mat 21:24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. Mat 21:25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? Mat 21:26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. Mat 21:27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. Question : Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Is this a command from heaven? Luk 7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. Luk 7:29 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. Luk 7:30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. What shall one say then? I conclude that we are saved by faith in Christ and so enter into God's grace, irrespective of Water baptism. I also conclude that baptism is a command from Heaven (after all...Christ is God). I come to the conclusion that Water Baptism is a righteous act, required by Christ, to declare publicly our Faith in Christ.
