When wife and I were married, long ago, we were worried because the pastor who was to marry us was perhaps a bit strict, and maybe even old fashioned, and he had been known to sometimes refuse to marry people who did not know for sure if they were saved. I had been baptized, and I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, but I had not been taught to believe that I was totally saved. We prayed about this before we were interviewed, and in the actual interview he only asked us if we were sure that God wanted us to marry. That was a different question and we had no trouble saying Yes to that! Since then I have been told in my spirit that I am saved, but was that from the Lord? How do I know for sure that I am saved, and how does anyone know? Thank you!

Yes, you are right. Memphis seems to be in many ways a city of faith. Praise Jesus!

Wife and I were far from home in Memphis, Tennessee, and the first thing we did was visit the open to the public former home of the music legend Elvis Presley. It was grand, and something to never be forgotten. Also in the nearby gift shop we saw some of Elvis' older 33 1/3 RPM albums for sale. Wife liked those, and so I bought one for her, one framed nicely to hang on the wall. You see, a few months before I had been in a hospital close to death, and she prayed for me, and did everything she could to encourage me to stay and live. Thanks to God, and Jesus I did survive. Then we went to downtown Memphis, and walked to a diner where we had lunch, and then we left. and we were waiting to cross a street, and a teenage boy asked me if he could have a small amount of money. It was not a hold up, he was just politely asking. I gave him a couple dollars, and he was pleased. Did the good Lord encourage me to give? I think so. As he left, I told him that the gift was from Jesus. I meant that he encouraged me to give something, but I feel I should have been more clear. What should I have said exactly? May God bless those who read this.

Thank you both for what you wrote. There are many fine souls that realize that the Lord works truly in mysterious and wonderful ways! God bless you. Since recovering...I no longer seem to fear death.

It was several years ago, and I had something like an aneurysm, and it was the worst thing that I ever faced. I collapsed at home, and was found by our daughter, and sent off to the hospital. The operation, when it began lasted eight hours straight I am told. After it all was ended...I slowly, but surely began to recover. When I got back to my job, I began to wonder if the prayers made for my recovery helped bring me back, but I could remember little. So having some faith I prayed and asked the Lord if I could be told more how I came to recover. Did God help? A couple months later wife, and I were on vacation, and she was driving in upper NY state, and she saw a billboard and stopped in at the entrance to an underground cavern. We paid, and were ushered to an elevator to go down to the caverns. We were shown a small boat floating in a flooded underground cave. We sat there with a guide, and another couple. I began to feel that I had been somewhere like this before. The cave was like a passageway, and our boat took us off for a considerable distance. When we began to see a light up ahead, the guide told us that there was a beautiful underground waterfall up ahead. We all wanted to see that. I really wanted to see it! But when we got near it, the guide told us that they were working on the waterfall, but it was not ready for us yet. Too soon, but we were told that if we could come back another time, a few months from now, that perhaps it would be ready for us then. We were sad, but we were then taken back. It was like familiar to me, like I had experienced it before. My mind told me that I had experienced it all during my operation a few months before. I wondered then, if I had experienced this all during my operation when I had come to the gates of Heaven? Until I was told that it was not quite my time yet? Perhaps that was why I recovered. Was this the answer to my prayer?

Who was Dottie Rambo? She was a Gospel singer who loved to sing about how much she loved the Lord. When she was older she died in a bus accident in 2008. I had heard her in person, and my wife was a longtime fan of hers. One of her best songs to us was about the mansion that she was going to live in one day in Heaven. She wanted to live near where Jesus lived. Last night I was tired and I went to bed early, and I got this message in my head, made up of thoughts. It said that Dottie was now in her mansion in Heaven, and she loved it. I was told to tell my wife. I was going to tell her in the morning, but it seemed that I was supposed to tell her right away, so I got up, and went down stairs and found her, and told her what I had been told about Dottie. I had forgotten Dottie's name, but I described the lady we had heard years ago in Tennessee, and she knew who I was talking about right away. She knew that since my near death in 2002, that my gratitude to the Lord (for my recovery) was very high, and I sometimes heard a message from above. She liked hearing about Dottie, and she even sang to me part of that mansion song. I guess that was why I was supposed to give her the message. She enjoyed it! May the Lord bless all who read this!

enoob57 is correct. We here on earth are sinners, but having faith in Christ brings us forgiveness of sins, and a new life in Him in Heaven. Praise God!

My grandfather, and grandmother owned a farm long ago, and they donated an acre or two at one point so that a fine Protestant group could build a small church adjoining the road which went through their farm. This was before my time, but was in the thirties or forties. The church is today still in operation, and I remember attending a service or two when I was younger. It is important to the area even today. Well, grandfather passed away long ago, but his good wife lived to be more than 94 years of age, and was mentally in good condition until the week she passed away. But from about age 84 she seldom attended the church on her farm, and when asked why she would tell them the following. I don't want my fellow church goers to see how old and homely I have become! Her faith sustained her to the end of her life on earth, and I believe even after that! God bless her!

It was several years ago, and I noticed a stranger to me sitting near our pew in church. Wife did not recognize him either, but our church is fairly large, and we did not know every one there. He came for perhaps every Sunday for 4-5 weeks, and people like myself would try to talk to him, and say good morning, but he would other than that not talk to us. Then we heard that someone had drove around to the rear of the church one evening, and killed himself. It was him. He was younger than myself, I am sure, and I am sorry that he did not reach out to us with his problems. I know that someone with us could have helped him, in the Lord. I wish he could have attended Sunday School where someone could have had a better chance to talk to him. If something like this happens at your church I pray that your visitor will be helped in the Lord. God bless you.

By His stripes we are healed of what?
secondtimearound replied to Whyme's topic in Gifts of the Spirit
There is spiritual sickness, yes, and physical sickness. To me Jesus can heal either one or both. It has to be in His will, and also we have to have faith that he can save us. He can save us from sin, and he can also save us from sickness. Thanks be to God! -
It was many years ago, and wife and I had two small children. Wife did not work so that she could watch them both, while the younger was home all day, and the older went to school. We did not have much extra money as only I worked. The year I am remembering, we went to a fine church, and we loved the Lord as we do now, but as Christmas came close on, we did not have any money to buy a tree to honor the Savior. We prayed! I looked all through my desk, and finally I found an envelope with a $50 bill in it. It was to pay a specific bill, but I remembered that we had already paid that bill some time ago. That money was ours! Christmas was only about 2-3 days away. Could we find a late selling tree? The next day first thing I found a tree lot, and got one cheap, because the time was so close. Then we decorated it. Then the next day we brought the kids into town, and went to a discount store, where we got small turkey dinners for all of us. The thing was... fifty dollars would buy more in those days than it would now. Then we brought the kids to a movie. It was about a young boy who wanted an air rifle for Christmas. They loved it, and even we parents enjoyed it! At the end we still had about fifty cents left. For Christmas my parents gave us close to a hundred dollars, and we survived until Spring. Thank you, Jesus for our best Christmas memory!

They owned a farm, and lived on it through the Great Depression, and beyond. They were very sincere Christians who believed in the power of prayer, and the power of the Lord. Before my time they donated an acre or two so that a church could be established just off the road, on the edge of their property. It is still in operation today. Grandfather died before I was old enough to talk to him, but Grandmother lived to be more than 95, and I knew her as one very faithful Christian. They were so serious about being Christians that they turned off some of their own children to being saved. For many of them it was hard to understand the word of God, that their parents were so very serious about. I remember Grandmother saying that my mother was her favorite child, and I was her favorite grand-child. It was not that we were so perfect or so amicable, but we both were closer to her as to faith in Jesus Christ. When Grandmother was very old, she still had her faith, but she did not want to go back to her home church to let them see how old, and ugly she had become. Now to me I am getting old myself, but I don't expect to look so good on the outside, as long as I am forgiven by the wonderful Lord. Keep walking in the Lord. May God bless you all!

We had not been back to our local church since the Covid-19 struck, and there was a new pastor, that I had only seen once, and new rules in effect there due to the Virus. Church was only online for months, and months, I was told, then last Saturday wife told me that it was open again with special seating requirements, so I prayed for the strength to return, and I did go. There were maybe 40 or so people there, and many pews were roped off so that we did not have to sit near anyone, and share the virus. The new pastor came by, and introduced himself, and that was a blessing, and then we stood to sing some hymns. His sermon was on the book of Matthew, and it was really very good. It was being broadcast online. The contributions were not collected by ushers, but we brought them individually up to the front to place them in the plates. Of course, we all had masks on to help with the Virus. We prayed, and it felt good to not pray alone. My wife did not feel ready to return yet, although I know she would have enjoyed it, and I saw some of the old timers, like us there in attendance. Lord, thank you for this, and please bring us all back to this fine church again safely to give you praise! Amen!

It is that day again. The day to thank the Lord. We have many things to mention in thanks. I have more than some. Here are some things to say thanks for: My oldest child was graduating High School, and instead of going to the Christian College we had picked out for her she had other plans. Those plans did not include God, and they also did not include living life as her parents had tried to. But God changed her, and today she is a strong Christian who goes to church, and has faith. We are shocked, but very pleased! Then another child told us she would live her own life, and that did not include living in a small town, like her parents did, and also did not include faith in the Lord. But she changed also, and today she and her husband go to a fine church of faith, and she even lives in a town smaller than the one she grew up in! There is so much more that I could mention. We do not deserve such mercy, and forgiveness! THANK YOU GOD!!

Yes, for sure. It was not my prophecy, but of someone I read. They said that Trump was to win it. The important thing is that God wins it all in time. He will too.

Some tell me that the Supreme Court may be asked to decide the result of this election according to the nation's law. May the final result not be what either the Republicans or the Democrats desire, but may God provide us with the election result that He decides upon! Amen!

I was given the name of the winner for president of the 2016 election online. He was a strong Christian into such things, and what he said surprised me. More like shocked me! I knew American presidential politics somewhat, and everyone into that told me that Mrs. Clinton would easily win. But no, he told me that it was important to the Lord that T win, and I came to see it. But that night when the results came in, I was still majorly shocked. I was again told the winner of this year's election a couple days ago. I was given this info. from one into prophecy. I expect that I should not post the result here, but all I will tell you is that the result this time will shock us most as much as the last election. May God's will be done, and it will!

Wow, this is a popular question. When I was close to dying of an arterial venous malformation in 2002, I was prayed for by many. I came to see that my recovery had a price sort of. I was being called to pray over the very ill, and dying. To pray for their healing if they had the faith. Even though many people said that God did not heal people in the 21st century! Was it possible? Somehow I did as I was told, and for 4 years I talked to the very ill, and the dying, and I prayed over them, and for them. Many were helped who had faith, and some with faith totally healed. He is wonderful, and he can do any good thing, if there is faith in the very ill one, and faith in the one praying for healing! Thank you Jesus!!

He also told me that he was not into organized religion, but that he went "elsewhere" for deeper spiritual experiences. I am not 100% sure just what that means, but I don't really like the sound of it. Thanks to all for the very sound advice! Your friend in Christ,

I have a blood relative, that I will call "Ted" here. I knew that his mother, and sister had been strong Christians, although they had been different denominations from myself or most of us on this website. We are both getting older, and recently when I asked him how he was, he told me that he was a person that has faith, but Ted told me that he was not really a Christian like his mother had been. Hmm. That makes me a little worried that he may not have the Lord Jesus, like everyone needs, especially people like we both are who are rapidly getting older. What should I say to him about how we all need faith in Jesus to go on to the next life? What do you think? Thank you!

Running out of time?!?! Scared incase it’s too late ?
secondtimearound replied to Caitlin _'s topic in General Discussion
The unpardonable sin? These other saved people have sent good messages to you. Listen to them. My late father in Law, before he passed away, once thought that he must have committed the unpardonable sin. He had been for years a Sunday School teacher, and had an amazing faith in the Jesus. But when he was very old he had a stroke, and he was very afraid he had committed that unpardonable sin. No, it was time for him to die to this world, and arrive at the next world for him. Heaven. All things work out for the best for those of us who love the Lord! God bless you!
