  8. Schiavo Appeal Rejected Again in Atlanta 3 minutes ago Top Stories - AP By RON WORD, Associated Press Writer PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - With time running out for Terri Schiavo, a federal appeals court Wednesday rejected her parents' latest attempt to get the brain-damaged woman's feeding tube reconnected. The Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to consider an emergency bid by Bob and Mary Schindler for a new hearing in their case, raising a flicker of hope for the parents after a series of setbacks in the case. But the court rejected the request 15 hours later. Three times last week, the court also ruled against the Schindlers. "Any further action by our court or the district court would be improper," Judge Stanley F. Birch Jr. wrote. "While the members of her family and the members of Congress have acted in a way that is both fervent and sincere, the time has come for dispassionate discharge of duty." To be granted, the parents' request would have needed the support of seven of the court's 12 judges. The court did not disclose the vote breakdown. The Schindlers visited their daughter Wednesday morning at her hospice and urged their supporters to keep trying. "I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw," Bob Schindler said. "So she's still fighting, and we'll keep fighting." "We know that some of her organs are still functioning. ... It's not too late," he said. In requesting a new hearing, the Schindlers argued that a federal judge in Tampa should have considered the entire state court record and not whether previous Florida court rulings met legal standards under state law. The Schindlers' motion also said the federal appellate court in Atlanta didn't consider whether there was enough "clear and convincing" evidence that Terri Schiavo would have chosen to die in her current condition. ********************************** Well, unless God steps in, that's the end for Terri. warm regards -bud

I just always wondered if God would honor mans attempt at "playing" God by giving a soul to a clone. Or maybe he will have us reap the whirlwind by allowing a human to be born without a soul. Can you imagine what such a person would be like? Just a thought...perhaps the Anti-Christ will be a clone. A person born without a soul.... warm regards -bud

  16. Evolutionists have their entire lives and reputations resting upon Darwin's theory, so most of them are not open to anything other than "evidence" to prove their theory. All evidence which proves contrary to this theory is discarded and ignored. A fine example of this behavior can be found in the work of Dr. George Wald, Nobel Prize winner for Science in 1967. Dr. Wald says the following: "When if comes to the origin of life on this earth, there are only two possibilities: creation or spontaneous generation. There is no third way. Spontaneous generation was disproved 100 years ago, but that leads us only to one other conclusion: That of supernatural creation. We cannot accept that on philosophical grounds; therefore, we choose to believe the impossible: that life arose spontaneously by chance." warm regards -bud

  18. Teen's Rampage Leaves 10 Dead in Minn. By JOSHUA FREED, Associated Press Writer REDBY, Minn. - A heavily armed teen accused of killing his grandparents later smiled and waved during a rampage at a high school as he gunned down seven more people, brushing off pleas to stop and asking one of his victims whether he believed in God. Reggie Graves, a student at Red Lake High School, said he was watching a movie about Shakespeare in class Monday when he heard the gunman blast his way past the metal detector at the school's entrance, killing a guard. Then, in a nearby classroom, he heard the gunman say something to his friend Ryan: "He asked Ryan if he believed in God," Graves said. "And then he shot him." The rampage at Red Lake Indian Reservation in far northern Minnesota was the nation's worst school shooting since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999 that left 13 people dead. When the rampage was over, 10 people were dead, including the gunman's grandfather; a woman who may have been his grandfather's wife or girlfriend; a school security guard; a teacher; and five other students. At least 14 others were wounded, officials said. Police said the gunman killed himself after exchanging fire with officers. "We ask Minnesotans to help comfort the families and friends of the victims who are suffering unimaginable pain by extending prayers and expressions of support," Gov. Tim Pawlenty said. Officials did not identify the shooter, but several students said he was Jeff Weise, a teen who may or may not have been a student at the school. Accounts of Weise's age varied from 15 to 17. During the rampage, teachers herded students from one room to another, trying to move away from the sound of the shooting, said Graves, 14. He said some students crouched under desks. Some pleaded with the gunman to stop. "You could hear a girl saying, 'No, Jeff, quit, quit. Leave me alone. What are you doing?'" Sondra Hegstrom told The Pioneer of Bemidji. Student Ashley Morrison said she heard shots, then saw the gunman's face peering though a door window of a classroom where she was hiding with several other students. After banging at the door, the shooter walked away and she heard more shots, she said. "I can't even count how many gunshots you heard, there was over 20 ... there were people screaming, and they made us get behind the desk," she said. FBI spokesman Paul McCabe said the gunman exchanged gunfire with Red Lake police in a hallway, then retreated to a classroom, where he was believed to have shot himself. All of the dead students were found in one room, including the teen believed to be the shooter. Red Lake Fire Director Roman Stately said the gunman had two handguns and a shotgun. Relatives told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Weise was a loner who usually wore black and was teased by other kids. Relatives told the newspaper his father committed suicide four years ago, and that his mother was living in a Minneapolis nursing home because she suffered brain injuries in a car accident. Some of the injured were being cared for in Bemidji, about 20 miles south of Red Lake. Authorities closed roads to the reservation in far northern Minnesota while they investigated the shootings. Police officers were posted at the hospital Monday night to discourage reporters from entering. When a reporter approached three men walking across a hospital parking lot, one broke down in tears, and the others said they had no comment. The school was evacuated after the shootings and locked down for the investigation, McCabe said. Floyd Jourdain Jr., chairman of the Red Lake Chippewa Tribe, called it "without a doubt the darkest hour" in the group's history. "There has been a considerable amount of lives lost, and we still don't know the total of that," Jourdain said. It was the nation's worst school shooting since two students at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., killed 12 students and a teacher and wounded 23 before killing themselves on April 20, 1999. The rampage in Red Lake was the second fatal school shooting in Minnesota in 18 months. Two students were killed at Rocori High School in Cold Spring in September 2003. Student John Jason McLaughlin, who was 15 at the time, awaits trial in the case. Red Lake High School has about 300 students, according to its Web site. The reservation is about 240 miles north of the Twin Cities. It is home to the Red Lake Chippewa Tribe, one of the poorest in the state. According to the 2000 census, 5,162 people lived on the reservation, and all but 91 were Indians. ************************************ It's easy to see who is really behind these shootings.....Satan. warm regards -bud
  19. I went out and bought The Purpose Driven Life last night. I know you are supposed to read it over 40 days but I'm just devouring this book. I love it! It really is bringing me into a closer relationship with God. I had one of the worst days I have ever had the day before. I was so angry, resentful, I felt unloved and mad at God. When I opened the book, one of the first things I read was: "It is no accident that you are holding this book." It wasn't. God wanted to open my eyes to what I was blinded to before. It is this: It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ...he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. - Ephesians 1:11 (Msg) I thank God for leading me to buy that book. warm regards -bud
  20. Judge George W. Greer has made rulings, which advance the private interests of Michael Schiavo, George Felos, and Senate President Jim King by allowing the statutes, which apply, to persons with terminal illness to order the death of Terri Schiavo by dehydration and starvation at the request of Michael Schiavo and thus is in violation of Judicial Canon 2B. Judge George W. Greer has not ruled according to law in the case of whether to remove Terri Schiavo
  21. I was listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio on the way home and he said that Terri's husband, the Worm, has stated that as soon as Terri dies he wants no autopsy and he wants her cremated. He will not release her body to her parents for burial. Hmmmmmm. Kinda funny how he fought all attempts at rehabilitation for Terri (after the malpractice settlement that is) and now he wants her burned up with no autopsy. Maybe.....the head injury wasn't from her striking it on the floor when she collapsed.....maybe the Worm is afraid she'll wake up and tell what really happened that day....if there is no autopsy, and he turns her to ashes, there's no evidence. He's home free....... Hmmmmmm......... warm regards -bud

  23. Here are some interesting Q & A's that were sent to my e-mail. I thought I'd pass 'em along. Question: "Is eternal security a "license" to sin?" Answer: The most frequent objection to the doctrine of eternal security is that it supposedly promotes the idea that Christians can live anyway that they want to - and still be saved. While this is "technically" true, that is not the "essence" of eternal security. A person who has truly accepted Jesus Christ as his or her Savior "can" live a sinful life - but he or she "will" not do so. We must draw a distinction between how a Christian should live - and what a person must do in order to receive salvation. The Bible is abundantly clear that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6). A person is saved by faith - faith alone. The moment a person truly believes in Jesus Christ, they are saved and secure in that salvation. Salvation is not gained by faith, but then maintained by works. The Apostle Paul address this issue in Galatians 3:3, "Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?" If we are saved by faith, our salvation is also maintained and secured by faith. We cannot earn our own salvation. Therefore, we cannot earn the maintenance of our salvation either. It is God who maintains our salvation (Jude verse 24). It is God's hand that holds us firmly in His grasp (John 10:28-29). It is God's love that nothing can separate us from (Romans 8:38-39). Any denial of eternal security is, in its essence, a belief that we must maintain our own salvation by our own good works. This is completely antithetical to salvation by grace. We are saved because of Christ's merits, not our own (Romans 4:3-8). To claim that we must obey God's Word or live a godly life to maintain our salvation is equal to saying that Jesus' death was not sufficient to pay the penalty for our sins. Jesus' death was absolutely sufficient to pay for all of our sins - past, present, and future, pre-salvation and post-salvation (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21). So, with all that said, does this mean that a Christian can live anyway they want to and still be saved? This is essentially a hypothetical question, because the Bible makes it clear that a true Christian will not live "anyway they want to." Christians are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). Christians demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), not the acts of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21). 1 John 3:6-9 clearly states that a true Christian will not live in continual sin. In response to the accusation that grace promotes sin, the Apostle Paul declared, "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?" (Romans 6:1-2). Eternal security is not a "license" to sin. Rather, it is the security of knowing that God's love is guaranteed for those who trust in Christ. Knowing and understanding God's tremendous gift of salvation accomplishes the opposite of giving a "license" to sin. How could anyone, knowing the price Jesus Christ paid for us, go on to live a life of sin (Romans 6:15-23)? How could anyone who understands God's unconditional and guaranteed love for those who believe, take that love and throw it back in God's face? Such a person is demonstrating not that eternal security has given them a license to sin, but rather that he or she has not truly experienced salvation through Jesus Christ. "No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him" (1 John 3:6). Question: "How can I know when God is telling me to do something?" Answer: Pray, especially when you
  24. I read every last one of the books and I loved 'em! Here's a great song for you: I WISH WE'D ALL BEEN READY Written by Larry Norman Life was filled with guns and war And all of us got trampled on the floor I wish we'd all been ready Children died the days grew cold A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold I wish we'd all been ready There's no time to change your mind The Son has come and you've been left behind A man and wife asleep in bed She hears a noise and turns her head, he's gone I wish we'd all been ready Two men walking up a hill One disappears and one's left standing still I wish we'd all been ready There's no time to change your mind The Son has come and you've been left behind The Father spoke, the demons died How could you have been so blind? There's no time to change your mind The Son has come and you've been left behind I hope we'll all be ready warm regards -bud
