I agree with the angle you are coming from here. There is a spiritual component to the use of marijuana and ALL drugs. We know from observation that practically all heathen cultures in the world today use some sort of drug(s) in order to bring the shaman, or whomever, into a trance-like state in order to see visions of the spiritual world, etc. And of course, the word for "sorcery" in the bible is "pharmakeia" - ie: pharmacy/drugs.

Absolutely. Although I am sure Catholics talk about Christ a lot more than Mormons do.
-
What may be effective is simply asking them why they talk so little about Jesus in their services, meetings, temple rituals, etc. Because the thing is, a lot of them rarely do. You can sit in their meetings for 3 hours and not hear His name even once. They talk incessantly about things such as the book of Mormon, business matters, missionaries, tithing, temple recommends, works, their "living prophets", sacred underwear, you name it. But they rarely have anything to say about our Lord Jesus Christ. And of course there's tons of talk about Joseph Smith. So you could ask them if there's is truly a religion of Christ, or of Joseph Smith? Never mind all the BoM teachings they adhere to that are totally opposed to the teachings of the Holy Bible.

That's a tough one, because I had neighbors next to me in my apartment suite that were always smoking marijuana. Every time I opened my window, my door, my patio door, or even walked by their door in the hallway there was a huge waft of the reeking marijuana smoke coming out. And I don't want to smell that. I don't want it sticking to my clothes. I don't want to have to buy air fresheners because of someone else. I don't want pot smoke coming into my suite and lingering there for hours. I don't want it coming in to my vents, etc. I don't want children in my home breathing that junk in. I had to have all my windows closed 24/7, no matter how hot the temperature was outside, because of them, because if I left my windows open and was out for several hours (at work, or wherever), when I came home it would be like I entered the living room of a marijuana smoke-a-thon. What if some of us were asthmatics? This ordeal went on for over a year and we ended up having to move because the situation was so untenable. Repeated complaints to several different parties fell on deaf ears, and it seemed like it was a big joke to the potheads. So how would making it legal help people like me, who don't want to breathe that disgusting smell in, and who don't want the inconvenience of being around inconsiderate stoners? Remember, legal doesn't mean "right", or "good".

So is nicotine, yet... Yes, nicotine is another harmful drug. Not sure what your point is about that, though. There are no arguments about its legality. Okay, thanks for clarifying. So you are saying that because nicotine cigarettes are legal, marijuana should be as well? And you're thinking, why the different standards for the two? Anyway, legality is not the thrust of my opinions on marijuana. Suffice it to say, judgment - among other things - is not impaired when smoking nicotine, as it is with marijuana.

I have failed to find a real scientific study that has shown marijuana is harmful to the body By "real", I take it you mean someone that is a user of marijuana? There are tons of scientific studies that show that it is harmful, but they are not even necessary. Because everyone who has been a habitual pot smoker, or knows one, knows what a stoner looks and acts like. You can pick them out from a mile away. please show me some double blind scientific studies that show me marijuana is harmful. please think about what you say before you speak. what you said about stoners is completely stereotypical and racist, there are all kinds of people that smoke marijuana responibly and you wouldn't even suspect they smoke. Why are you getting so testy? I thought pot makes you mellow? Regarding thinking about what I say before I speak, perhaps you should take your own advice. To wit, I don't know whether to laugh my head off, or shake my head in disgust at you for calling me RACIST simply because I don't agree with you about marijuana. I mean, really??? And your straw-man argument about there being lots of people that smoke up and we wouldn't know it, is disingenuous at best. There are some people that smoked nicotine cigarettes their whole life and live to 80 years old, so should they be used as an example that smoking cigarettes is okay? Lastly, it is an oxymoron to talk about responsible pot-smoking. Responsible according to who, the pot smoker? And according to what contrived definition of the word? Along that line, let's let the alcoholic tell us he doesn't have a drinking problem as well. Simply put, marijuana is a drug. Drugs addict you. When you are addicted you want and need more of them. Responsible drug-taking is akin to responsible porn-surfing as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely, on every point! And amen!, to being high on life and a big thank you to our Lord for His grace that is sufficient for us, that we don't need anything but Him! Now, another term for getting stoned that was used amongst my peers I grew up with, was, "getting baked", or "getting fried". Very apt descriptions, whether they realized or not, because that's what it does, it fries your brain. It makes you sluggish, everything slows down, all the senses are dulled and distorted. So I think it is sheer nonsense for anyone to seriously say that regular toking up is not harmful, and is even beneficial. I was in hard rock bands for many years before I was saved, amongst the drug culture, so I know first-hand what a pothead is and isn't. I know how they smell, how they look, how they act, how they react, how they perceive, how they think. Things that are idiotic, childish and stupid are hilarious to them when they are stoned, because they cannot think straight. I wouldn't want them operating machinery, driving a car, or firing a gun at the range beside me.

The devil - little 'd' - may knock us down, but the Lord - capital L - always picks us up and strengthens us when we submit ourself to His care. We are the children of the KING OF KINGS, and He doesn't sit idly by when the paupers (those pesky little devils) are assailing us. God has promised that no temptation will overtake us, and the devil can't touch us, he is a defeated foe that will flee from us when we resist Him. Sometimes it is not as easy as we would like it, but we can rest assured that we have victory in Christ and lean on His promise that he will never leave or forsake us. If He didn't help us in our trials that would be forsaking us, wouldn't it? Therefore God, who cannot lie, will help you when you call on Him for strength during trials. God bless!

Amen, yes there is always Someone. God is faithful !! Beautiful words, especially the part about God always knowing you (/us) even when you (/we) didn't know Him. -
My prayers added as well for all of these brave Arab brothers and sisters in the faith, that love the truth more than a lie, and the Lord Jesus more than their lives!

Hi, how do you post a video?

Amen! Just the human body alone, never mind the whole cosmos, attests to God's incredibly complex designing hand. It's really mind-numbing stuff to try and contemplate even a fraction of what we see, never mind what we don't see in the invisible world. Great post!

Awesome song. Another version you should check out is by the Irish singer, Robin Mark.
