This is similar to how I feel a lot of the time. I find that getting too legalistic or descending into religiosity tends to create a warped sense of God. I have moved on from it, but there is still a part of me that thinks "if I don't start changing things, God is going to cause bad things to happen". I think that is a normal mentality to have, but just remember that God loves you and if He punishes you it is only to bring you closer to Him and improve your life..even if it doesn't seem that way at first.

Politics are a real problem with me. My immediate and not-so-immediate family is extremely conservative. Me, on the other hand tend to be very liberal. As they watch Fox News and The Blaze, I watch Jon Stewart and Bill Maher. People seem to get into this mindset that your political views say a lot about your faith in God, and dedication as a christian. I believe that we are so focused on who is right and who is wrong we forget to look at the bigger picture, just my 2 cents...
