  1. I get notifications and posts and now threads disappear so I am done with this website. I will expect to receive no more notifications or e-mails automatic or otherwise. Do not contact me at all
  2. Let's see, evil people, do not resist seems he was talking about any evil act. If you do not like my examples please provide those biblical verses that support your position on self-defense and killing. I would like to read them
  3. And emotions and fear, the list for not using spiritual warfare is long and understandable. How many stories do we have of the disciples being mugged or their women raped? Yes they were imprisoned but that is different than a criminal act being done unto you
  4. I am betting you do not understand spiritual warfare and the power of God
  5. While I agree with your first sentence, I have trouble with the second and will ignore the very last two. The middle sentences are troubling but you have to account for those feelings not me.
  6. Matthew 5:39 But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. James 5:6 You have condemned and put to death the righteous man; he does not resist you. But according to your logic you have to rove a positive, so where are the biblical instructions that grant you to kill in self-defense?
  7. Here is a question: Instead of using a gun, why not use spiritual warfare on the intruder?
  8. If he is there to steal, let him steal, he may not harm the family if he gets what he wants. It is also a judgment call and your judgmental attitude is coming through with the words 'he is a criminal'. He is also a creation of God who followed the wrong words, can you shoot a creation of God (we all know you can shoot a criminal)
  9. I agree BUT then you need to determine which biblical instruction guides the believer in the latter.
  10. i agree and being a light to those cities takes more courage and less weaponry. In other words while we can own weapons and kill in self-defense i think there is a better way to go
  11. Now that you provided more explanation I see where you are coming from and I do not have a problem with it and I agree with your attitude about protecting your family but I may not be as hardlined about it as you. I would probably shoot anyone who threatened my wife or kids but then I do not own a gun either but rely upon God's protection for my family I believe there is a verse, and I do not recall the exact reference points, that goes blessed is the city that does not rely upon walls but in God for protection. Maybe Fresno Joe knows the exact verse I am thinking of. I am not talking about outside of the home. Different legal rules apply there but the same scriptural ones apply everywhere. I remember being told that cops counsel people to drag an intruder inside the house if you shoot him anywhere on your property. That way you are legally protected from murder charges. I have owned guns but i do not believe in carrying them any more. This just isn't the old west
  12. Never thought you were. What I am saying is that I do not have a rela problem with your position about self-defense and killing. I just personally prefer to find a better way to deal with that issue.
  13. If you re-read your words you will see that they are including killing in self-defense in the definition of murder. People here have clearly stated their intent (plan) to kill when they defend so I think you need to re-word your statement. There is nothing wrong with owning guns, but the attitude may be in question when one does own them. There are other scriptures like 'turn the other cheek', 'do not resist evil men' 'do unto others' 'love your neighbors as thyself' that need to be considered here.
  14. Most likely as technically I agree with you. Sometimes people's words do not represent the attitude they are holding about this issue. I just tend to lean towards not killing even in self-defense and I am sure we both can make arguments supporting our views. Ultimately what you do in those situations is between you and God as it is you who has to live with it and the consequences. I prefer to try and avoid that situation.
  15. Keep in mind people, I have no problem with Christians owning guns I just question the attitude behind that ownership
  16. Interesting point of view and for the most part I can agree with you. it is the last sentence that bothers me and need to ask the question-- are we avoiding taking resonsibility for our decisions by thinking that way?
  17. again i know the difference and even in defense of my family i would prefer to wound not kill. i do not think killing of a human is necessary when one defends one's own. again i urge you to do a study on shedding man's blood.
  18. You would have to back that up with actual scripture. So you will ignore biblical teaching to do what you want...hmmm. I am not saying you cannot take a life in self-defense, I am trying to temper your attitudes. You sound as if you would enjoy killing someone. What did Jesus say to Peter when the latter cut off the man's ear-- if my kingdom was of this world my servants would fight John 18:36
  19. I know what the command says and how it is referred but I prefer the word 'kill' as we are not given license to kill anyone. There are other passages of scripture which speak on this issue and I would advice you all do a study on shedding man's blood before using your weapons to end someone's life. Do unto others... is a great passage to temper one's use of weapons in defense of their property.
  20. in our issue on controversial topics we address gun ownership by believers. keep in mind that Peter's owning of a weapon did not overturn thou shalt not kill.
  21. The name Adam does not have to be used by Jesus for Adam and eve to be historical. Paul uses his name and that should suffice. What Jesus said in John 5:45ff is that if people do not believe Moses then they will not believe His words. That passage tells us that Adam and Eve were historical because Moses recorded them as historical.
  22. the problem with your post is that you probably missed the parts of those studies that have eve living over 200,000 years ago approx., and Adam living in another era and those studies do not have those two people mating at all. I have read the studies.
  23. Interesting find, and rest assured, the minimalists will argue that it is not a real seal or make some other argument in opposition to the theory. Now I have to go check some minimalists I know and their websites to see what they think of this find.
