  2. hi - at your suggestion, i did make a topic of Christian reggae music - and added about 6 songs so far, with plans to add dozens more very good spiritual songs i know of. but the video forum passes through moderation before anything is allowed to be posted. i get the impression that none of the posts & lyrics i put will ever see the light of day - i also have a half a dozen Christian metal songs in another thread i started, that have been waiting to be "approved" for an entire month now - most of whose lyrics are verbatim scripture, and video content is simple album cover, or nothing, so i don't see any reason why they should not be approved. yet they are not, after what should be ample time, so someone evidently sees reason to disapprove. i would post many more, but it looks like a waste of time. all i can think is that there is the view among some who have charge over this that music should be judged by its sound & genre instead of its purpose and message alone? so i fear the same fate will become of all the effort i put into the reggae songs. some people, being ignorant of the facts, hear the style and think immediately that it is promoting drug use or a false Christ, without taking the time to actually listen or read what is being said - and i'm afraid that is what may happen in this case, because of some imaginary offense. anyway, for whatever reason, none of my reggae videos are allowed to be seen, as of yet. i would add many many more songs blessing Christ and expressing joy - but so far it seems like a waste of effort. sorry, to anyone who was interested. this forum is not very well suited to sharing spiritual songs. send me a letter via PM if anyone likes, and i can point you to a wealth of hymns in these styles.
  3. My Epic - Lower Still Look, he's covered in dirt The blood of his mother has mixed with the Earth and she's just a child who's throbbing in pain from the terror of birth by the light of a cave now they've laid that small baby where creatures come eat like a meal for the swine who have no clue that he is still holding together the world that they see they don't know just how low he has to go Lower still Look now he's kneeling he's washin' their feet though they're all filthy fishermen, traitors and theives now he's pouring his heart out and they're fallin' asleep but he has to go lower still there is greater love to show hands to the plow further down now blood must flow all these steps are personal all his shame is ransom oh do you see, do you see just how low, he has come do you see it now? no one takes from him what he freely gives away beat in his face tear the skin off his back Lower still, lower still strip off his clothes make him crawl through the streets Lower still, lower still hang him like meat on a criminal's tree Lower still, lower still bury his corpse in the Earth like a seed, like a seed, like a seed Lower still, lower still Lower still, lower still... The Earth explodes she cannot hold him! And all therein is placed beneath Him and death itself no longer reigns it cannot keep the ones he gave himself to save and as the universe shatters the darkness disolves he alone will be honored we will bathe in his splendor as all heads bow lower still all heads bow lower still

  9. there are a handful of artists in Christian reggae that might be considered "essential listening" -- 'fathers' of a sort of the genre, who have large discographies & have been big influences on the scene in general. one of those is "Stitchie" -- sometimes referred to as "Lieutenant Stitchie" here's as good an introduction to him as any: Stitchie - Praise the Lord One.. God (Rapid) Praise the Lord, praise the Lord Let everything that has breath I say praise the Lord Praise the Lord, praise the Lord All of God's people praise the Lord Praise Him one more time, say Praise the Lord, praise the Lord Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord Praise the Lord, praise the Lord God's people praise the Lord The breath that you breathe and the life that you have A the Father give you the gift The clothes on you back and the shoes on you feet And the food you put a you lip You go to you bed go sleep and in the morning champagne you sip You ever stop fi thing a who do this Make a joyful noise and sing it Praise the Lord, praise the Lord Let everything that has breath I say praise the Lord Praise the Lord, praise the Lord All of God's people praise the Lord Praise Him one more time, say Praise the Lord, praise the Lord Let everything that has breath I say praise the Lord Praise the Lord, praise the Lord God's people praise the Lord A whole heap, a whole heap ratings We give Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff Beyoncé, Michael Jackson them go crazy for Wycliffe Elephant, Beenie, Bounty, Shaggy, Sean Paul you get me drift Come help me praise the One who give them the gift Nuh plead the fifth 'Cause no man a nuh board, nobody nuh starch you Nuh stand up deh like you stiff You feet fi move, you mouth fi shout, you two hand dem fi lift To praise the Lord should never be hard and should cause nuh rift The fact that you are alive right now do this Make a joyful noise and sing it Praise the Lord, praise the Lord Let everything that has breath I say praise the Lord Praise the Lord, praise the Lord All of God's people praise the Lord Me praise Him one more time, say Praise the Lord, praise the Lord Let everything that has breath I say praise the Lord Praise the Lord, praise the Lord All of God's people praise the Lord Help me praise Him and say Amen, Amen, Amen Hallelujah, Hallelujah I say Amen, Amen, Amen Hallelujah, Hallelujah I say Amen, Amen, Amen Hallelujah, Hallelujah I say Amen, Amen, Amen A Jesus Christ me giving the praise me nah go fared fi talk Him put in the marvellous light and tek me out of the dark Whatever me need He will supply and not just what me want That's why His name me nah go fared fi chant, Jesus! 10. reggae, as a genre, is usually associated immediately with rastafarianism - a false teaching - and might be completely written off by believers because of this association. purely as a musical style, however, it is a regional & cultural style from the islands south of the eastern US, and communicates joy, energy & peace. there are, and have been for decades, a large number of Christian believers from these areas who write, sing & perform spiritual songs that fit broadly into the musical category. this thread is to share some of them, so that you would not be ignorant, and hopefully might be blessed. please feel free to add any links and/or videos for artists in reggae, soca, dancehall styles that you may enjoy too. if the musical style offends you, you don't have to click "play" on anything, or even to visit this thread at all. i'm only adding songs whose lyrical content openly declares praise for Jesus Christ as Messiah, and by artists who are openly declared believers in Him. so there shouldn't be any issue with them being approved by the mods (i hope) simply because they don't appreciate the type of music that these people choose to sing their praise with.
  11. to Selassie's credit, he flatly rejected the idea that he was the Messiah, for his entire life. some sources may tell you that some percentage of "Rastafarians" accept Jesus as Christ, while some other percentage point at Selassie. in my view - and i guess it comes to definitions again - one is no longer a Rastafarian if they don't say Selassie was the Messiah, any more than one is not in any way a Christian if they do not confess Christ. IMO -- it's always important to be careful about definitions. it can spare a lot of argument, and clear up a lot of misunderstanding. you'd hardly know the difference between a Mormon and a Christian by talking to them, if you weren't clear about definitions, for example. so all the talk pages back about religion vs not religion -- well, that depends on what you call "religion" -- the Faith is "religion" in the sense that we worship God, and do so by the ordinance of love. it's not however "religion" in the sense that it is made up of strict adherence to ritual and ascetic law. and i think it's pretty hard to argue that Judaism is not "religion" - though it should be obvious as Bible-literate believers that our Faith is the apex, goal and fulfillment of Judaism, expressed through the life, death and resurrection of Yeshua our Savior and the Redeemer of both the Gentile and of Israel. in that sense, Christianity is "religion" as well -- as James calls it, pure and undefiled; the expression of God's love through us towards others.
  12. the bottom line of Rastafarianism is that adherence hinges on accepting Selassie as the Messiah. false Christ = not Christian. there are, however, many people who have left Rastafarianism for the true Christ. it may be 'urban legend' but it's even said that on his deathbed, Bob Marley converted to Christianity and confessed Jesus Christ as the Messiah. so just because you see someone with dreadlocks praising "Jah" -- don't write him off as Rasta. "Jah" is actually found throughout the Psalms, probably as a shortened form of the tetragrammaton. in re: OP -- if you still like reggae/soca/dancehall style music, there's plenty of Christian reggae out there. maybe i'll start a music thread. i love that style; to me it speaks of joy & peace. there's a user on youtube called "DiscipleDJ" that regularly posts compilations of current & recent gospel reggae music from his radio broadcasts; there's as good a place as any place to start a search.

    Not Worthy

Jesus, not one is worthy without You !! ♥
  14. yeah the irony isn't lost on me. DJ Siah - "Not Worthy" Lyrics: I thought I knew better; that's what I said I thought you would see this in the end But there's no one quite like You I struggled and fought You all in vain, I struggled and then I felt the pain Now I'm here before Your throne I am not worthy without You I am not worthy, this is true I am not worthy without You
  15. forever, amen! Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” (Mark 6:31) His yoke is easy, and His burden light
  16. and also to be reminded -- who He is. so many troubles, and so much anxiety in this life, would come to nothing - would be turned to joy - if we only kept in mind, who He is, and what He has declared us to be in Him!
  17. Wovenhand - "His Rest" Lyrics: To enter His rest To enter His rest Close to His chest And after His own heart Shepherds enter at measure 33, 33 One foot on land And one upon the sea She holds them close Careful to enter His rest Threshing out what she had gleaned Of my Kinsman Redeemer She did dream To enter His rest To enter His rest She whispers as an aspen tree In her windy, windy way Bringing fruit and flowers to me Placed in vessels of clay She holds them close Grateful to enter His rest Threshing out what she had gleaned Of my Kinsman Redeemer She did dream To enter His rest To enter His rest
  18. Seven Horns Seven Eyes - "Divine Amnesty" Lyrics: To what end will our foolish ways lead? Shall we be consumed by Your holy wrath and reap our deserved fate? O my God, come down in power, engulf this man in the cleansing winds of Your unceasing mercy. Let adoration rise within me; liberate Your creation. Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in steadfast love. He will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea, as You have sworn to our fathers from the days of old. (Micah 7:18-20)
  19. i'm looking for examples of something else connected to the same event... Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. (Matthew 14:31)
  20. yes Yeshua is the Physician, and the Medicine. our Defender, and our Defense - every part of our spiritual armor is of Him, and He is the Word of God which is the sword of spirit too -- all things by Him, through Him, and for Him!! the 'problem of evil' and 'original sin' points to Him, the Lamb, that takes away the sin of the world, and to our need for Him, who is the very expression of God's mercy towards us - for 'it is not by strength or by will, but by mercy'
  21. our Lord is "the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the earth" was this before Adam fell, or after? it certainly implies foreknowledge - and as far as intention, it's also written in scripture that God consigned everyone to disobedience, so that He could show mercy to all (Romans 11:32). so one may as easily be quick to cry 'blasphemy!' if we think that God could not prevent Adam, or that this universe is not entirely under His control. all we know is that He allows this present state, for His own purpose, and that if we fear Him, we should not think to judge Him for the way He runs His universe. Romans 9 bears on this - without directly answering, as though to satisfy our curiosity - what if God has done this, in order to make His wrath and His justice known? what if He created some fit for destruction, and some for honor, so that He could show His glory in mercy? who are we to talk back to Him? we should fear Him, and seek His mercy, and respect His sovereignty.
  22. i should put it this way: not everyone who is circumcised in the flesh, by human hands, is set apart. but everyone who is circumcised in the heart, by the Master's hand, has been sanctified. so it is with this washing.
  23. i think my answer to this question depends on another question - are we talking about the earthly ritual of being dunked in water while someone asks you if you agree with the gospel, and says a few words? or are we talking about actually becoming immersed into the name of the Lord? certainly people go through all kinds of outward religious ceremonies & rites without any inward effect. but if God washes you, then you are clean indeed, and if He renews you, then you are certainly a new thing.
  24. i've never understood that; how one can believe the gospel - that the God of all things sought you out, and did everything for you to be with Him eternally, and to place your entire trust, your whole life in Him - but never be interested enough in what He has to say to take the time to read the record of who He is and how He has interacted with mankind, not even once.
  25. i'm sorry that you feel that way, but i'm guessing you didn't listen to what the man was saying, did you? he's praising Christ as the only one worthy of being our leader, and decrying putting trust in man. - which is entirely in harmony with the message of scripture. maybe it will help if i put the lyrics: What kind of leader would leave 99 sheep in the field? Seeking after the lost one and give his son to retrieve it? That's the kind of leader we need that leader is Jesus It's the kind of credence we need to hear in presidential speeches Instead we keep seeing em' scheming and cheating and lying through their teeth And creeping, it's our green they cover they fees with Offer weak apologies they ain't sorry the least bit That's why Jesus the only one to whom I pledge my allegiance Don't get it twisted man I ain't trying to say don't vote But do realize politicians all sail in the same boat I follow Christ walk on water and stay afloat Brave the wave navigate His trail and know God never fail makes way for the faithful so I seek his face his grace the only place I roam Jesus the only name in which I place my hope So till the day he come back to take us home And I don't care who's running or who's electing em' I run through the streets screamin', Jesus for president Most high most wise nobody better than em' I run through the streets screamin', Jesus for president And I don't care who's running or who's electing em' I run through the streets Sceamin', Jesus for president (x3) I run through the streets screamin', Jesus for president The talk is cheap that's why some only afford to speak Yeah a lot of strong words but they walk is weak Yeah they make a lot of claims but stay in they safe havens Who they trying to game they don't really walk our streets Whether you support Obama, Hillary or John McCain Man it's only one name through which the streets can be saved Jesus the redeemer the releaser of slaves He's the most qualified cuz' he experienced our pains He's a chief cornerstone from what the builders rejected I'm a chip from the same block Forgive me if I seem a hard headed I'm a keep screaming Jesus till I see that ya'll get it Proclaiming his name till I lay in the grave breathless Cuz' I ain't here to tell ya'll that God is cool But I'm here to let ya'll know that God still rules The heaven is his throne the whole earth is his footstool What that mean? Nobody big enough to fit in his shoes For all of the posers that say that they Hovah Claim that they God's son but when God comes they reign will be over Cuz' my God got that hurricane reign you cats are sun showers You flash power and pass in a half hour Those that impersonate evaporate when the Son comes out Just to mention that name obliterates them cowards Killers point pistols in the air taking shots at God you kidders you should get this clear He's Jehovah the ruler the creator of the human brain the first computer The truth the holder of the future Created the earth and its axis the forces in magnets The orbits of planets his thoughts are beyond what man can imagine Jehovah Rapha the healer Jehovah Shama won't leave ya Creator redeemer Jehovah Jireh feeds ya Alpha, Omega, beginning and end He's the great I am and still he wants to be your friend
