  1. Hi fellow Christians, Me and my father are discussing the sentence as stated in Leviticus 19:28. This sentence is about getting a tattoo, below as stated in the NIV. But we are Christians and not Jews. Jesus has created, with us Christians, a new covenant when he died. So are the rules, especially the Lev. 19:28 rule, also applicable to Christians?? Can you fellow Christians shine some light on this question? With love and blessings, Rik // The Netherlands
  2. Dear everyone, Sorry, I haven't posted here for a long-time. This forums stayed always in my mind, but I was too busy with my autistic problems... Now I have some more time to study my Dutch Bible, and that is right what I am doing! I have a really, for me, big question. That question still bugs me a lot, so here it comes. Which Bible is the most standard one in English?? On my wishlist of my favourite book-store is the "ESV MacArthur Study Bible". But I just want a plain simple Bible, just like the Dutch New Bible Translation, called in Dutch "Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling". Which Bible then do I need in English, if I want a normal English Bible. I don't know which to choose... Can you, brothers and sisters, help me choosing the right one. I'm not a native English reader, but I would love to read His word in English! Thanks and Blessings, Rik
  3. I prefer a "real" Bible than an on-screen Bible. Maybe I am from the "romantic" generation, I love to read a real book, i.e. with candlelight, instead reading from a screen. It's not that I never read digitally, but my favour is more at paper books Greetings, Rik
  4. We are indeed living in the end-times. We "Christians" are always fleeing from the "non-Christians"... That's stated in the Bible, or not? The only thing we as individuals can do is praying for those people! Greets, Rik
  5. @other one, I have enough time, so I am very interested in these video's. Are they all in that topic about "What you need to know..."? I will take a look in that topic, for sure! Greetings and Blessings, Rik
  6. I know that is isn't about persecution. But I don't think/hope ISIS come so far that the world is in their hands. And they can't annihilate the power of God's love. I know that my sentence from Matthew was not really in the context, but I tried to formulate it in my best English... Again excuses for my poor English. Greetings, Rik
  7. Well, there is now evidence that the MS804 chrashed into the Mediterranean Sea. Here in Holland, one newspaper stated "No hope for survivors". So once again, dear God please help the relatives of the dead people. That's all I can do, pray for the relatives. Greetings, Rik
  8. Hmm, they are always welcome, if they need some help. Not with killing and murdering Christians, but if they are ill or need a hospital. Okay, it sounds weird but... Yes they are welcome, because stated in Matthew 5:44, God said "But I say you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you". So also the Islamic State members... That was my two cents Greetings, Rik
  9. Well the country Turkey, what can I say about that weird president, Erdogan... He has more influence in Europe than we all think. And Turkey isn't even in the EU... I think the EU has to take more measures to "reduce" Erdogan's influence in our countries... The only thing we, as individuals, can do is using out political voice to stop him. That was my humble opinion.
  10. Where is the world going to...? All those missing airplanes, maybe ISIS or just a technical failure? MH370 is still missing to date. MH17 is shot down. MS804 down/missing... Dear God take care of those passengers and crew.
  11. Hi angels4u, Thank you for your articles about the Jehovah Witnesses. I will read those two articles asap. I am very busy now, but I will read (and maybe print) your texts. I hope you can forgive me for the late reply, I am sorry. Have a blessed day! -- Rik
  12. Hi angels4u and all the others, Thanks for your reply, I think that your link the best option is. I am going to save some money and buy it then. Now I have a question about the New World Translation from the Jehovah Witnesses. I have this translation in Dutch. But I heard from some members in this topic, that the New World Translation isn't right. Why are some of you "against" this translation?? I've compared it with my "normal" bible, and I don't see any faults... I have to admit that I did not read the whole bible, but I don't see anything that I think that is not right. Let's take John chapters 1 to 3, I have read the chapters in both bibles, but there is nothing wrong. Okay it is written with other words, but what is wrong with the New World Translation?? If someone thinks that I need a new topic to discuss the above, that is all right. I would love to get this explained to me. Have a blessed day, Rik
  13. Hi angels4u, I can order it, but I have multiple bibles to choose from with your link. I think that this one is the best...? https://www.bol.com/nl/p/esv-study-bible/1001004009061586/ Thanks for all the help!
  14. Good afternoon brothers and sisters, Okay, thank you'll for giving me some explanation about the different English bibles. But I am getting a little bit confused now. The NJK is (I think) too difficult for me, because English isn't my native language. So I think, the best option is an ESV bible. Now comes the problem if I want to buy ESV bible, where can I buy it (at a shop that delivers it to Holland)? Well that's it for now, I'll hope you all have a blessed day. --Rik
  15. Thank you Kwik, for the explanation of the bible versions. I am now focusing on getting an English bible. Is the most common English bible, the "King James Bible"? Like this one: http://www.bookdepository.com/The-Holy-Bible-Authorized-King-James-Version-Harper-Collins/9780007103072?ref=grid-view So if I buy the above bible, is that okay? I want an English bible because I am so interested in God's word in an other (English) language. Thanks for all the research @kwikphilly , @angels4u and all the other brothers and sisters. I am still feeling comfortable here, I love this place to talk about Him. Love and blessings, Rik
  16. Hello both, Thanks for your replies. As I said, I have already "Het Boek" (HTB), that's almost the most common bible here in Holland (I think). But thanks @angels4u, for asking which bible-translation is the best. I appreciate that a lot. Well, it is 9 am here, I am just awake and getting started for a God blessed day. I feel, every time I am here on the forums, some relaxation and peace in my body, fantastic!! Have a nice day and may God bless you! Greetings, Rik
  17. Thanks all forhelpibg me to find a right Bible. I am now off to bed, but I have the "Het Boek" translation of the Bible, in Dutch. I have also the translation from the Jehovah witnesses, in Dutch. So that is no problem. I only thought that English was better because we can all talk about the same names of the books... But like now it isn't a problem with which language I use, or am I wrong? Well, I am going to read a little bit of Johns gospel. And trying to sleep after that. Goodnight, Rik
  18. Dear Brothers and Sisters, What a beautiful stories. I am almost crying of happiness, you all have such beautiful replies and beautiful words from God. I now get the phrase "Born again". It is a load of information, what is written above here, but I am now getting it. One little question, is this the right English bible? If someone can explain me a little bit about the different translations of bibles, I would love to hear that. Well, I wish everyone a beautiful day. You're all brothers and sisters of mine. Thank God that I met you all on this forum. Love and blessings, Rik
  19. Hello @1to3, Thank you for your clear explanation. I am going to read John's book. But one question, who are the 4 gospels? I don't yet have an English bible, that is why I have a struggle with the names. My native language is Dutch, so my bibles are Dutch too . But an English bible is coming to me. Then I can read it in English and that should must clear up some things, like the names of the prophets. And to @angels4u: I don't know really what you mean with the term "born again". Do you mean the death of Jesus Christ and his "resurrection"? Or is it the new kingdom, the paradise on earth and in heaven? I know that if we die, and then Jesus comes to earth, to divide the "bad" people and the "good" people, we will be made again (if God wants to, of course). Do you have some more information to let me understand the "born again" term. Gods blessings, Rik
  20. Hi fellow brothers and sisters, Sometimes I have a hard time following Jesus' path. That can be due to my autism, or maybe the lack of knowledge... What is the best I can do now? Some of you said in my introduction topic (http://www.worthychristianforums.com/topic/197670-hello-from-the-netherlands/), to read John's "book" (or how do I write that in English???) There is no doubt, for me that the Lord and Jesus exists. So I want to know where I can get the most information about the life of Jesus and his followers, before Jesus died for our sins. This question because I think that I can do things, like helping someone, much better if I know more about Jesus' life and what he did. I know that in great lines, but not the fine things... God's blessings, Rik
