  1. The only record (book) being questioned as being complete is that of the Holy Bible which is an incomplete record because fallen man has obviously altered the record. Shalom
  2. Revelation 13:[18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
  3. I appreciate your response. It seems to coincide with the biblical record that we "do have". Shalom Revelation 21:[1] And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
  4. This was the posting inquiry. I never said there was fault with scripture. Shalom Job 38:[1] Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, [2] Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? [3] Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. [4] Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. [5] Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? [6] Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; [7] When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? [8] Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? [9] When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, [10] And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, [11] And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? [12] Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; [13] That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? [14] It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. [15] And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken. [16] Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? [17] Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? [18] Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
  5. Thank you for the clarification of the ecumenical disposition of the gap theory. I never inferred to that, but I can see the supposition reasoning. Thank you. Shalom Mark 4:[9] And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. [10] And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. [11] And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: [12] That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. [13] And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? [14] The sower soweth the word.
  6. Absolutely! Amen and amen. Thank you for getting it. Shalom
  7. I never stated, nor am implying that there is fault with scripture. The intent of the post was to bring to light the fact that it is readily obvious that we do NOT have all of the scriptures and the possibilities of "why" we do not. Funny how most everyone makes assumptions based on having not read the post. Shalom
  8. By faith it is. Disappointing you have no scriptural affirmation of your comment. Thank you for participating. Shalom
  9. Creative "ecumenically" correct according to religion is this response indeed. Where is the scriptural affirmation of this "GAP" theory please? Thank you for participating. Shalom
  10. Interesting that you, in your understanding, are unable to answer the inquiry even with your "opinion". Rather you seem to be pointing "fault" to my understanding according to your "opinion". However, you, nor anyone else for that matter, can assertively provide a scripturally definitive answer. Thank you for participating just the same. Shalom Romans 14:[1] Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. [2] For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. [3] Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. [4] Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. [5] One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. [6] He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. [7] For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. [8] For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. [9] For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. [10] But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. [11] For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. [12] So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
  11. A child must rely on the parent for development. Discipline is a key component indeed.
  12. The child must have faith in the parent and their direction for them.
  13. Do we have all of the scriptures ever recorded in the earth for man to know God and His ways? And are the scriptures we have the only ones inspired by God? There are clearly missing parts of our biblical record. Is it in order to keep man in darkness as to the reality of the completeness of salvation provided for man through Christ Jesus? And what better way to cause man to believe a lie than to put some partial spiritual truth in it and get man to use carnal reasoning of it without all of the facts. 2 Corinthians 11:[3] But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. The devil literally has nothing new to work with because he can't create anything new. He uses the same tactics as he did in the original sin in Eden. Genesis 3:[1] Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Consider verses 1 to 3 of the first book of Moses which has been deemed inspired scripture. Genesis 1:[1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. [3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. What is missing in these first few verses? Between verses 1 and 2 we already have conflicting information based on the rest of scripture that we have about the character of the Creator as seen in Christ Jesus (the express image of His person). without form (תֹּהוּ tôhûw, to'-hoo; from an unused root meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), i.e. desert; figuratively, a worthless thing; adverbially, in vain:—confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness) God would never create something without form or in vain. and void (בֹּהוּ bôhûw, bo'-hoo; from an unused root (meaning to be empty); a vacuity, i.e. (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin:—emptiness, void) God has no emptiness, ruin, nor void in Him. and darkness (חֹשֶׁךְ chôshek, kho-shek'; from H2821; the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively, misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness:—dark(-ness), night, obscurity). God is light and has no darkness in Him. Then in verse 28 there seems to be more missing information. Genesis 1:[28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. subdue (כָּבַשׁ kâbash, kaw-bash'; a primitive root; to tread down; hence, negatively, to disregard; positively, to conquer, subjugate, violate:—bring into bondage, force, keep under, subdue, bring into subjection) God had put everything on the earth under man's authority, but we don't see any mention by God to Adam that there was a devil in the earth already although it is implied when He tells Adam to subdue it. If we thoroughly examine that which we have of God's Word, it is apparent that we have an incomplete record. And this, in itself, does not correspond with the character of our Heavenly Father. Does it? Seek and you shall find. Shalom
  14. Consider that God had already decided to destroy the earth and its inhabitants before He chose Noah, a man perfect in his generations (genealogy, blood line). Genesis 6:[1] And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, [2] That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. [3] And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. [4] There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. [5] And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. [6] And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. [7] And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. [8] But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. [9] These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. Jesus specifically related His return as King of kings to the days of Noah. And as it was in those days was the reference. Matthew 24:[37] But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. [38] For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, [39] And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. The Old Testament was written to give us natural examples of how to and not to live in this earth. 1 Corinthians 10:[5] But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. [6] Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. [7] Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. [8] Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. [9] Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. [10] Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. [11] Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Peter also relates the return of Jesus to the days of Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah (like unto today's world of morality in sexuality). 2 Peter 2:[4] For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment. [5] And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; [6] And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; [7] And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: [8] (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) Luke notes that the angels told the disciples at the return of Jesus to heaven that it would be the same manner in which He returns as Judge of the world. Jesus left as Savior and will return as Judge. Acts 1:[9] And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. [10] And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; [11] Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. God was grieved that He had even created man in Noah's day. The state of mankind was very bad at that time as it is now today. The point of all scripture in reference to the return of Jesus (the second coming) is that He will be coning to bring the judgement of God just as in the days of Noah. Think about it. Can you see it today? The desexualization of children (they don't know if they are boys in girl's bodies or girls in boy's bodies, etc.). Perverse generation we are indeed. But no worries, the judgement won't linger long, and it will come. Be sure to get your ark built soon according to the instructions of God for you, specifically. Judgement is coning. Read it and reassure your heart in truth. Be ready for you don't know when He will come. Shalom Revelation 1:[7] Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
  15. Are you a child of the Most High? Was Jesus talking about little children or was He speaking of believers in Him who became as little children when He was answering the disciple's inquiry about the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? He related one to the other as both and the same. Matthew 18:[1] At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? [2] And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, [3] And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. [4] Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. [5] And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. [6] But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. [7] Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! [8] Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. [9] And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. [10] Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. Be very cautious in what you say and do to a child of the Most High. He will not take it lightly if you offend them. And He will repay you to your face. Truly God is full of mercy and compassion, but He is also full of righteous judgement which He will execute faithfully. Thank Jesus for taking God's judgement on the cross for us all so that we don't have to. But if we don't accept Jesus' sacrifice for us and then treat others accordingly, we must bear judgement ourselves. Matthew 18:[21] Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? [22] Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. [23] Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. [24] And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. [25] But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. [26] The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. [27] Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. [28] But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. [29] And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. [30] And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. [31] So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. [32] Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: [33] Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? [34] And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. [35] So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. Luke 6:[36] Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. [37] Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Shalom
  16. All things are possible if we don't limit God. Israel was our example. 1 Corinthians 10:[1] Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; [2] And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; [3] And did all eat the same spiritual meat; [4] And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. [5] But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. We'd do well to take heed. Psalms 78:[33] Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble. [34] When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and inquired early after God. [35] And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. [36] Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues. [37] For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant. [38] But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. [39] For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. [40] How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! [41] Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. Aren't we doing this if we limit God by our reasoning? Matthew 13:[54] And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? [55] Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? [56] And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? [57] And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. [58] And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. We each determine what God can do in this world on our behalf according to what we believe about Him and His will. God is not accountable to us, we are accountable to Him. Shalom Mark 9:[23] Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
  17. This says it all. Shalom John 1:[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
  18. Indeed. The past is past, but in imagination-memory it is present. Never look back. Philippians 3:[13] Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. [15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
  19. Same story since Eden. Shalom Genesis 3:[1] Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? [2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: [3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: [5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
  20. Remember what the LORD has done in your life, what He has delivered you from, what He is doing right now in you, and what He is going to do for you. Never look back with yearning for anything you've been called away from. Psalm 103:[2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: [3] Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; [4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; [5] Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. [6] The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. [7] He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. [8] The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. Remember Lot's wife is what Jesus told His disciples in speaking of the kingdom of God. Luke 17:[26] And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. [27] They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. [28] Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; [29] But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. [30] Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. [31] In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. [32] Remember Lot's wife. Lot and his family had just been delivered out of Sodom and Gomorrah before it was destroyed by God. Genesis 19:[15] And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. [16] And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. [17] And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. Do you see it? They were already delivered. And had been specifically instructed to not look back to where they'd been delivered from by God's everlasting mercy. Genesis 19:[23] The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. [24] Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; [25] And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. [26] But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. When it comes to what we've been delivered from, let us heed the warning of Jesus and never look back. Shalom
  21. We are free from the bondage of sin through Jesus. John 8:[31] Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; [32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. [33] They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? [34] Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. [35] And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. [36] If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Blessed be Jesus who has freed us. This is true independence! Romans 6:[1] What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? [2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? [3] Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? [4] Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. [5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: [6] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. [7] For he that is dead is freed from sin. [8] Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: [9] Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. [10] For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. [11] Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. [12] Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. [13] Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. [14] For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. [15] What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. [16] Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? [17] But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. [18] Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Shalom
  22. Good verse. Let's complete the context in which it is written. Shalom 1 Peter 2:[18] Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. [19] For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. [20] For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. [21] For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: [22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: [23] Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: [24] Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
  23. One can go to Ted Talks and see the actual presentation. It's exactly what is said.
  24. The fool does the opposite of what God commands. The fool believes in himself or circumstances and his reasoning more than what the Word of God says. The fool reasons his decisions based on himself and what he believes rather than God's Word in truth. Proverbs 1: [7] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Luke 12: [16] And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: [17] And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? [18] And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. [19] And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. [20] But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? [21] So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. What is the definition of opposite, opposing, opposition, etc? It is the other side of something: fool - wise, good - evil, up - down, hot - cold, etc. Likewise this applies to doing what the Word teaches as opposed to not doing it. Consider 1 Peter 3: [10] For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: [11] Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. Opposite of 1 Peter 3:[10] For he that will hate life, and see evil days, let him not refrain his tongue from evil, nor his lips that they speak guile: [11] Let him not avoid evil, and do bad; let him seek war, and ensue it. Is not that the entire precept of evil? Do the opposite of what the Word of God says. It always has been. Genesis 2: [16] And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 3: [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: [5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. [6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. All sin from the very beginning has been by doing the opposite of what God says. Paul placed emphasis on this in his letter to the Corinthian church. 2 Corinthians 11: [3] But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. The mind (thought and reason) has always been the way of deception for man. Every sin begins in the mind and results in the action of doing opposite of what the Lord says. Ephesians 4: [17] This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, [18] Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: [19] Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. [20] But ye have not so learned Christ; [21] If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: [22] That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; [23] And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; [24] And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Simple, yet profound. How many times have we did the opposite of what the Word says and ended up with the opposite of what God desires for us? Remember the key principle, "reap what you sow". Now apply the "opposite definition" to salvation as defined in scripture. The word "salvation" covers everything from the spirit to the natural body of man. Be the opposite of the fool. Be wise. The Holy Spirit is here to give you wisdom. The devil is a fool and will only you give you folly. Proverbs 14: [1] The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalm 107: [17] Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted (reap what they sow). Romans 1: [18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; [19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. [20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: [21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. [22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, [23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 1 Corinthians 3: [19] For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. Don't be a fool. Choose to be wise and obey God's Word. Shalom
  25. This is a continuation of Jesus' responding to His disciple's questions in chapter 24 of when His return and the end of the world would be. He'd just provided them with the example of Noah's days when the flood came on all the earth. Then Jesus gets to the specifics of His return stating that of two in the field and two working, one would be taken and the other would not. He further clarifies by telling of two servants, one who is faithful will be made a ruler and one that is evil will be given reward with hypocrites where shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then Jesus gets more detailed in telling of the ten virgins: five wise and five foolish. There were ten virgins, all were called to be ready for the marriage supper of the bridegroom. But only five of them were prepared for his coming and five were not. It's clear that not everyone called into the kingdom of God is received when the end is come. Truly a simplistic and not a complicated explanation of answer to the disciples. However, Jesus still continues further with even more clarification and yet more details. It seems He wanted to be sure the disciples truly understood what He was telling them by providing clear, repeated illustrations to their minds. Jesus once again mentions servants and talents with their subsequent rewards. The unprofitable servant, He states explicitly, is cast into outer darkness where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. The Lord then further reaffirms His answer to the disciple's questions by giving them relevance to their present lives prior to the end in relation to what they do to other people in the world. Ultimately, He explains to them that inasmuch as they did something to another person in the world, they did it to Him and subsequently some will inherit eternal life and others eternal death. Thus, Jesus provided further confirmation of what He'd told the lawyer in Matthew 22 verses 37 through 39 when He emphasized that loving one's neighbor as himself is equal to the command of wholly loving God.
