  1. Eternal salvation. Of course! That's what Jesus gave his life to impart to the world's sinners. He didn't come to save the righteous. The well do not need a physician. Only the sick do. Jesus came to save the sinners. And he died to put their sins under the blood that washed those faults away forever. And he died to give eternal life. That's the good news. All else is not.
  2. All the apostles failed to be perfect. They fell asleep when they were suppose to stand watch in the garden at Gethsemane. And later the Roman's and the temple guard came to arrest Jesus. They were awake then but that is what Jesus wanted them to watch for prior to that arrival. Why is it a big deal that Peter was human? Jesus knew this. He told us all about his mission in Matthew. He didn't come to call the righteous but the sinners.
  3. What branch or denomination are you a member of? It sounds like you don't think you're assured of your salvation while alive. And that you have to be a legalist in order to find out after you're dead and before the throne of judgment whether or not you obtain eternal life. Am I wrong there?
  4. I could be mistaken in reading the first post but, it sounds like legalism to me. Also, I'd say that God is merciful to sinners. And that's why he calls them into his grace. This way when we repent of our sins, and are re-born in Christ and God's mercy, we are no longer a sinner. That is just me though. I'm not here to lead people to my way of thinking. Just sharing. It is relationship not a dogmatic goose step obedience trip in my view.
