  13. Hello @Sister Cess, Psalms 73 and 77 both deal with distraction, distractions caused by occupation with others, and with self, and in both cases the answer was to become preoccupied with God. However, you are a young single woman who has very natural feelings toward a young single man, who shares your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, which is lovely. The Lord knows your heart, he knows how you feel: talk it over with Him, commit your feelings to Him, and ask that His will be done; then just enjoy this young man's company when you have it, and get on with your life. For if it is the Lord's will that this young man should reciprocate by sharing the same feelings of attachment, then he will. Your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is not based on the way you feel, but on the promises of God, and is sure and steadfast, and cannot be lost. So smile and perform the function that you occupy within your Christian community with thanksgiving. You are God's workmanship, so rejoice in Him, and be glad. Within the love of Christ our Saviour, our Lord and Head. Chris

  22. Hello again, The opening lines of a poem by Rudyard Kipling, entitled, 'I Keep Six Honest Serving Men', are used as a teaching aid: and are appropriate to the question of the thread, because they stay the mind upon the facts presented in God's Word, and prevent the mind from straying into conjecture and vain imaginings:- 'I Keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew), Their names are, 'What' and 'Why' and 'When', And 'How' and 'Where' and 'Who'.' In Christ Jesus Chris
  23. 'And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, .. and laid it upon Isaac his son; .... and he took the fire in his hand, ...... and a knife; ........ and they went both of them together.' (Gen 22:6) Praise God! - Again, every action accentuated by the word, 'and', giving solemn reverent attention to Abraham's obedience
  24. 'Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said unto his young men, "Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you." (Genesis 22:4-5) Praise God! Abraham's words of faith:- '... and come again to you' - Abraham believed God was able to raise Isaac up from the dead, for His promises to him necessitated that Isaac live. (Acts 7:5)
  25. 'And Abraham rose up early in the morning, .. and saddled his ass, .... and took two of his young men with him, ...... and Isaac his son, ........ and clave the wood for the burnt offering, .......... and rose up, ............ and went unto the place of which God had told him. (Genesis 22:3) Praise God! - Again, every action associated with Abraham's obedience is accented by the word 'and'. How precious to God these acts of obedience are!
