  1. I agree with others here that have mentioned the Pope's endorsement of Islam. Many Christians likewise believe that Muslims worship the same God as we do.
  2. I pray that God will give you the strength to keep trying and that He will guide you and help you to know what to say, and that you will have opportunity to share the Gospel and Scripture as well.
  3. I agree. Such is the history of the Catholic Church. Well documented and almost beyond comprehension.
  4. I'm truly sorry to hear about the place she is at in her life in regard to how she views God and what she thinks of the Bibe, but I am so glad that you do go visit her and have developed a friendship with her. Perhaps she will think about your words and pick up the Bible for herself. We can never know how God may use us to plant seeds in someone's heart. It is so wonderful that you are able to speak with her, as much as it may seem at times that it is not making a difference. It may make more difference than you can know right now.
  5. Yes. That is so distressing. It breaks my heart beyond what I can adequately describe to think that perhaps my grandparents did not trust in Christ alone for salvation. Obviously I can do nothing for them now, and I will never know in this life what they truly believed. This is why I take the time to learn about Catholicism and discuss the concerns (Biblically) with Catholics, all the things I wish I could discuss and share with my grandparents but cannot.
  6. Unfortunately the veneration the Catholic Church gives Mary is not something that is even close to Biblical. Nor are all the doctrines that have been added about her over the years. (Immaculate Conception, Co-Redemtrix, Mediator/Dispenser of All Graces, Bodily Assumption etc) Not to mention all the shrines built to honour her and the pilgrimages made to these shrines by thousands every year. One has only to do a simple search for "Marian prayers" to see more examples of what was shared in this thread. While not all Catholics see her in the same way, even the Rosary presents many concerns, with more "Hail Marys" said by far than "Our Fathers", not to mention the prohibition Scripture gives to praying by "vain repetition." There are actually some Catholics that "consecrate" themselves specifically to Mary, and even consider themselves her "slaves". There are actually prayers that say just that as well. My maternal grandparents were Catholic and my mother was raised Catholic. Her oldest sister was a nun for about 15 years as well. I've done a lot of research into the Catholic Church because of this, and also attended quite a few Masses personally. I too care about Catholics and want them to come away from giving praise and honour to another human being, who, although certainly blessed, as the Bible says, is not to be given adoration and glory that belongs to God alone.
