  1. From an Ex Catholic Amen Arthur here I have to agree with you. Most doctrines of the catholic church relly on some infallible proclamation. Any support from scripture is taken out of context to the exclusion of other scriptures. It was not Christs church then and really when you get down to the basics why should the church the Christ and the apostles gave us add all these supposed extra doctrines and truths was the church Christ left us with not good enough?

We dont condemn him and it certainly is right to pray from him. As for his apologies then I am sure you would agree if he truly apologised he would not continue to teach the blatant heresies he does. I certainly do hope he sees truth one day but untill then, it is right for every bible believing christian to condemn his teaching and his ministry. Hold to the truth that Christ gave us, if we accept anything else we accept something from the evil one.
  3. Hey Yomo there is not much difference between the NKJV and MKJV they are still based on the Textus Receptus. They are simply in more understandable English. Thanks for all the posts guys, as for RevBillBob I will simply ask you to please rather refrain from posting as I politely asked for this thread not to rturn into a KJ only thread. As far as I am concerned KJ only advocates might as well be in a cult I will not even debate the issue because it is pointless. I look forward to hearing from anyone else as to what versions you prefer and just to make it clear I have no problem eith the KJV I use a NKJV as well as NASB and ESV. These are the ones I use for study and I have a number of others as well. So far I am glad to see no one takes the Message and other paraphrases to o seriously, as I believe these really are taking paraphrase too far.
  4. Find another church. Nothing good will come of staying in a church like that and I will bet there will be a whole lot of other false teaching accompanying that rediculous comment.
  5. I thought it would be interesting to see what bible versions are the most popular among the board. I like using the NASB NKJV and ESV, the reason is I enjoy a more literal version as I believe this is best for understanding Gods word and for good bible study. And please dont let this deteriorate into another rediculous King James only debate.
  6. "Hey Dan" Oops sorry meant Dannyboy
  7. Hey Dan Man this Passion business is really getting a bit much. Any Christian should know that we all killed Christ now somone wants to water it down and say only a few conspirators did? I have said it before "The Passion" is a good movie but very catholic. As an ex Catholic I am weary of the source of Mel Gibsons inspiration, considering he used a book from a nun who had various visions as one of his main sources. I think too many Christians have given the movie way too much credit and others now will obvioulsy jump on the band wagon I guess. Its an OK movie nothing more nothing less. I guess we should all expect others to try make money on the wave though hey?

Hi Kristin Sorry I was not refering to you at all, I had just read the whole thread and personally am tired of people saying we should not expose people like Hinn. I agree with what you said, these people need to be exposed in view of what the bible is saying and what they are teaching. But I believe this has been done many times over already. The liberal relplies from some others however simply increase my concern for what is happening in Christs church today we are letting more and more error creep in and the most popular thing for most is to say we have no right to judge. Maybe people should understnad the full view of this. We do have a right to judge (not condeming judgment) but judgenent of what is of God and what isnt. If we dont then we are condoning what the devil is introducing to decieve our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

I cannot believe some would argue against exposing false teachers like Benny Hinn. I truly shows how poorly some fellow christians are based in Gods word. Expose them. Expose them. Expose them. If you stand for Christ and truth you will always expose a fales teacher simply because of the fact that they are dishonouring the true Christian faith and also they are taking new fellow chrisitans and destroying their faith at times. The apostles blatantly faught heresy and false teachers and any Christian who loves the Lord would do the same.

    Free Will?

Great post Denise I have to agree with you
  11. "The basic hermeneutical principle is literal interpretation, which does not rule out symbold figures of speach and typology, but does insist that, throughout, "the reality of the literal meaning of the terms involved" is determanitive" (Ryrie, Dispensationalism today, p 87) Consequently the promises of an earthly kingdom given to Israel as a nation must be fullfilled literaly in a future, millenial kingdom." Quoted from ivp New Dictionary of theology Specificaly I would like to know if anyone does not believe in the dispensational view of the end times, ie. Rapture, tribulation period etc.

    Free Will?

I personally believe in the doctrine of predestination. Some of the greatest preachers in history held to that belief and this was only really changed with John Wesley when he disagreed with George Whitfield. Two quotes I like: "We are dependent on God, not only for redemption itself but for our faith in the Redeemer; not only for the gift of His Son but for the Holy Ghost for our conversion." Edwards in a public lecture in Boston July 8, 1731 "Man is nothing: he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him to will and to do his good pleasure" GEORGE WHITEFIELD TO JOHN WESLEY

    Just wondering

My apologies, posted in wrong thread. I have reposted under general discussions. I would appreciate it if admin would delete. Sorry
  14. I am curious as to whether anyone on the board believes in anything else than Dispensational in terms of end times.

    Just wondering

Does everyone on this board believe in Dispensational theology.
  16. A quote I love from a Puritan preacher John Owen
  17. What I am trying to say here is that all sin leads to death ultimately. So to say that there is Mortal sin (leads to death) and Venial sin (does not lead to death) is unbiblical and based on a faulty understanding of the scripture used as support.
  18. With all due respect Your explanation of 1 John 5:16 - 21is floored. This seriously contradicts Jesus's own teaching in the Sermon on the mount. It is plainly stated that there are no distinctions between sin. Jam 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. Sin is Sin and it leads to death unless we put our trust in Christs sacrifice on the cross completely. As for the explanation in 1 John 5:16-21 your understanding contradicts clear teachings in the bible. I think Matthew Henry explains it best in his commentary which I quote below.
  19. Its great to see such great preachers quoted for a change.
  20. I personally feel the Passion has been given way to much credit. Yes it is a good movie and no immorality etc. but it is blatantly catholic. As an ex catholic I can see this and everyone seems to have forgotten that it Mel Gibson is part of an extreme Catholic group thst even rejects Vatican II. I also have not seen a huge evangelical effect in my country at least. My pennies worth anyway
  21. Really ANGRY What would yo rather have the abomination of Apartheid we had before??? We were once prosperous but what a COST?? This is not prophecy it is biased self thought up hypocrcy. Forgive me for being so blunt but my blood boils when I see this and the have Gods word attached to it? South Africa needs your prayers. Pray for all thos dying without Christ black or white. Pray for our people and the poverty and the blatant liberalism creaping into the church.
  22. I have some concerns about this post. I am a white Christian South African living in SA. Firstly Why boers??? what about fellow Christians? Secondly I do not know of any religious leaders who are held in prisons unless they are linked to the Right wing racist groups? Thirdly There are just as many other races black, indian etc who are suffering from violent crime, why are you singling out whites? So the only holocaust unfolding is the problem with HIV aids, and then we also have the problem of poverty, corruption in some governmenet circles and increased liberalism in some Christian circles. The Aids problem is also certainly not limited to South Africa there are many African countries worse off. Why isnt there an appeal to pray for them (Could it be cause they are not Boers (Afrikaners)?
  23. Amen to your post Jamie Kenneth Hagin is deffinitely part of the Word of Faith movement in fact many see him as one of the founders I have heard of them refeing to him as "Dad Hagin" As such he is full of false teaching. Dake is a horrible deception in my mind and I only wish my friend would open his eyes. God bless Shane
  24. Amen. Its a sad fact that many in th Catholic faith are lost and dont understand the Gospel. I was there and totaly convinced that I was in the original infallible church. How great Gods grace is that He opened my eyes. As George Whitfield wrote to Wesley "Man is nothing: he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him to will and to do His good pleasure."
