  1. Do you believe the Bible gives women the authority to preach? Why or why not?
  2. Is this the man, is this Perry Stone? Don't believe I've ever even heard of him. https://files.rightwingwatch.org/uploads/Perry-Stone.jpg
  3. The thief was taken to Heaven before the necessity of water baptism was put in place.
  4. But there is a formula, and scripture is clear that a Christian must be baptized in order to enter Heaven (Mark 16:16, John 3:5, etc). It isn't a "work", as you call it, it is putting on Jesus Christ (Romans 6:1-4).
  5. Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins is Bible. No baptism in the New Testament was performed any other way.
  6. Well, the Assemblies of God denomination is generally viewed as the largest Trinitarian Pentecostal body. From my understanding, many churches within in the denomination have apparently "voted out" speaking in tongues out of fear of offending their more "traditional" and non-Pentecostal converts. Some AG congregations are straitlaced; they are strong on the Pentecostal experience, moving in the spiritual gifts, and outward holiness, while others are apparently more evangelical and charismatic, being more liberal-minded on separation and holiness and treat the Holy Ghost as an additive and not a necessity.
  7. Apostolic Pentecostals (sometimes called Oneness Pentecostals or Jesus' Name Pentecostals) are Christians who adhere to the Apostles' doctrine as outlined in the New Testament. The believe in that God is undeniably one and that His name is Jesus, that Acts 2:38 is the only Biblical plan for salvation, that the infilling of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in other tongues, is a necessity to lead a Spirit-filled life, and that lifestyle of inward and outward holiness is commanded by scripture and expected by Jesus. Apostolic Pentecostals are commonly known for the enthusiastic and Spirit-filled worship and their so-called "holiness standards" of dress and personal behavior and conduct. While millions of Apostolic Pentecostals are self-operating and exist with organizational oversight, there are also many organizations existing within the community. The more common ones are the United Pentecostal Church, the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, and the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ. There are more, certainly, but these are the three for which I'm the most familiar. Are there any Apostolic Pentecostals here on Worthy Christian Forums? I also want to apologize in advance if this topic is already existing here. I tried searching to see if it already was, but I didn't find any results. Either way, I'm curious to see if there are any other Christians here of like-minded faith.
  8. None of us should "strive to speak in tongues". I'm afraid that might get us caught up in the new wave charismatic mindset that speaking in tongues is a "prayer language" that can be taught and is made up of whatever nonsense gibberish you wish to speak out. That's not with God or the Bible instructs. We should all, however, strive to be filled with the Holy Ghost. Our experience will be the same as those in scripture: we will speak with other tongues. That's how we'll know we have been filled. The anointing straight out of Heaven brings the Holy Ghost, and tongues following that anointing. It's like having an athletic tennis shoe without laces. If you buy that shoe, the "tongue" of that shoe comes with it. When you're filled with the Holy Ghost, you're going to speak in tongues. They go together. But speaking in tongues can be faked. There is a counterfeit spirit and motivation. Everything God-sent has a counterfeit sent forth by Satan. This modern-day "prayer language" phenomenon is not Biblical. Megachurches are cluttered with uncoverted people babbling on in a tongue that isn't ordained of God and living ungodly lifestyles.
  9. I guess I'm "charismatic" by default because I believe in the validity of the spiritual gifts and their necessity in the modern Church. The gifts have not ceased, they are still in operation and for Christians today. But I really am not Charismatic, as means of church or fellowship affiliation. I am Pentecostal in experience because I experience the same experience as those in the upper room in Acts 2. I have been filled with the Holy Ghost and spoken in other tongues just as those in scripture. It is a ongoing experience as I strive to be refilled with the Holy Ghost as often as possible. I am Apostolic in doctrine because I believe in the doctrine taught by the Apostles, such as the One God message, repentance, baptism in Jesus' name, being Spirit-filled evidenced by tongues, and living a life of holiness (both inward and outward) pleasing unto God. I am holiness in lifestyle as I strive to live a life of holiness that is pleasing to Christ. Modern Charismatics get caught up in many false doctrines. Their most common is probably the prosperity gospel, and the fact that they believe and often teach that speaking in tongues and other gifts of the Spirit can be "taught" to a Christian. They've turned the Holy Ghost into a "prayer language" which their "converts" pray in without any chances being made in their lives. Whatever goes on in their services I'm almost 100% positive isn't of God. Everything real from the Lord has a counterfeit from Satan. This modern "Signs & Wonders" movement is all wrapped up in flash and worldliness with no attention whatsoever to Biblical doctrine, separation, and holiness. This "charismatic sweep" has taken over a lot of Holiness Pentecostal churches. They want the power, but not the life. They want the blessing, but not the sacrifice. Worldliness has taken over the church. Why would the world come to church if its no different than the world? God's commanded us to be a separate people, set aside unto His will and His way. We cannot live and conduct ourselves as this world does and also expect to keep the same power that's always been God-given. God has called us to holiness, and that's the very thing most self-identifying Charismatics have thrown out the window. Any kind of standard or restriction is called legalism, and it's all about love, grace, and mercy. God's grace doesn't give us a "Get Out of Sin" free card. We still have a Bible, God's Word, that we will be judged by one day.
  10. Usually Christians quote the scripture where it's said that Christ looks at the heart, while man looks at the outer appearance (1 Samuel 16:7). They generally use it to justify worldly attire, amusements, and other fleshly activities, but that isn't what this verse points toward. The verse tells us that "the Lord seeth not as man seeth" because "man looketh on the outward appearance," while "the Lord looketh on the heart." That sounds as if we are to solely concern ourselves with God's opinions. In part, that's true. At the end of the day, the opinion God has of us will be the deciding factor on our salvation, but while we're still here in the flesh, we are called to be witnesses and a set-aside, holy people shining the Lord's light. How can we do that dressed and behaving as the world? We can't. Notice the verse says that men look at the outward appearance. Because that's said, we know that there is a outer appearance for a Christian man and woman, that signifies to people that said individual is saved. Yes, Christ looking at the heart sees the secrets and intentions of a man. If the outside is right, but the inside is wrong, guess what? It's all for nothing. It's in vain. There are multiple scriptures throughout the Word that deals with an Christian's outward attire. If it were not important, why is it there?
  11. If those changes genuinely take place inwardly, however, it can't help but to show up on the exterior as well. Biblical principles will come into practice.
  12. You're so very right. We are to live by God's holy standard. Once we're obedient to the Scriptures, we'll align with what they say.
  13. I would agree, somewhat. I believe holiness starts with issues of one's heart. What's in the heart will come out, either physically, emotionally, verbally, or in our dress.
