I love memorizing favorite passages of scripture when I find ones that really apply to something in my life. I encourage others to memorize verses you run across in your bible reading that have meaning for you. When you memorize scripture, God is able to bring it to mind and help you stay on the right path.
For instance: some of my favorites: Proverbs 3:5 & 6,
Psalm 37:4, Matthew 6:33, Philippians 4: 6 & 7. There are many, many more.
I encourage you to read the bible through to get a good overall understanding of what God's purposes are. If you read about 20 chapters a day you can get through it in 4 months. If you read about 4 chapters a day, it will take about a year to get through it.....still worth it to take longer.
